« on: July 12, 2015, 06:12:39 PM »i think what you're observing is that people obsess over the things they really like. and steven universe has a lot of fuel for things that fans can get excited about all on their own, esp. theories about the story and its characters. which is one of the reasons why people really like steven universe, and one of the reasons why it has such an active fanbase.

i'm not stupid enough to actually believe that the entire fanbase is dumb but anything that makes it big on tumblr is guaranteed to have homestuck-esque morons in the fanbase that attack others if you dislike it, or if you don't like it in the exact same way that they do, or when you draw a certain character's skin a little lighter than it is on the show or some other dumb crap
honestly the show is fine with me, even though it's not my thing and i'll probably never watch it unless i'm super bored and have nothing else to do, but a part of the fanbase is just toxic as hell. i guess it's kinda clouded my view of the show + fanbase in general and i've honestly got nothing against either of them, but that small group of people who feel the need to rub their love for SU in everyone's face (much like bronies do with MLP and homestuck...ians do with homestuck) just disgusts me.
