The operating system has a built in library of symbols that contains the not-equal symbol.

"!=" =/= programming.

I only heard of != being used as programming.

windows 7 mobile != windows 7 desktop

Most people don't understand that. Therefore, use either the not equal symbol in the computer library, or =/=.

I haven't crashed, froze, or blue screened while doing anything, ever.

OK, I did blue screen a lot a few years ago but that was because of a bad RAM stick. It had nothing to do with the OS.
