that video card is just nuts
It is like a 25% performance increase for a 100%+ price increase compared to slightly less high end stuff.

I also seem to recall that even making a new GUI element will crash a dedicated server.

It would seem that is not the case
I lauched a dedicated server and typed this into it:

you guys aren't thinking about it hard enough if you don't get it.
try imagining that the bottle is solid glass, instead.
now it's impossible.

Like filled in completely instead of just the walls of the bottle?
No, it is a 2D surface.  Take a 2D plane and try to "fill the inside" with anything and it becomes obvious why
1. It won't work
2. It is not confusing/paradoxical in the slightest

You don't need this fancy shape for it to be impossible to fill it in.

I think even cooler than the klein bottle is the way you turn a sphere inside out without folding it

I'm probably going to end up getting it, if only because I get PC's too often to be able to wait out a whole update cycle for windows, but I'm definitely waiting at least for the non RT or whatever version that actually has a desktop.

But since it is all one sided, doesn't that mean everything is on the inside of it, including the entire universe?

It is a 2D surface that doesn't completely enclose a volume
Of course it doesn't have an inside an an outside.
The best you can do with a 2D surface is say whether a point is above it, below it, or on it, but that is only when the surface is essentially a height as a function of x and y.  Vertical tangent planes kinda mess that up.
There is nothing mathematically revolutionary about this.  If you want to go ahead and say that it goes forward and backward through a 4th spatial dimension to avoid intersecting itself, then fine whatever, that would still be no difference from 3D space since it is still a 2D surface.

Modern math and physics has no problem describing and manipulating such shapes.

Help / Re: Unable to connect to LAN game.
« on: October 20, 2012, 12:32:41 AM »
LAN means that you are connected to the same network, generally meaning the same router.
If you don't have access to that there isnt a ton you can do.  However, windows 7 laptops with built in wifi generally have the ability to set up their own local network which other devices can connect to, and I'm sure that with enough tinkering, you can play LAN games over it.

The name is blocklander, not blocklandian
"blocklandian" is a term invented by people moving from roblox to blockland who assumed that the naming convention of "ian" would be the same
When a place ends with "-land" I'm pretty sure it is always "er"

Like highlander for example

RT is for ARM processors only (tablets). It's released to manufacturers only, you can't buy it. It only runs applications in the Windows store.

So its basically windows 8 without the actual desktop and ability to run exe files?
I'm thinking they are going to have a heck of a hard time selling that over android.
I would really like to get a windows 8 computer/tablet, but if RT has fewer features, then I can wait.
