I could use a 64x64 and still be fine, over that is overkill.

I think it looks absolutely terrible, but some people actually like that kind of crap.
Blocky and hi-res do not go together.
Then again striving for the lowest detail isn't the best thing in the world either.

There are up to 512x512 textures.
Although, you need Xau's HD texture patch.
