I have never ever read or heard anyone mention that when deciding for a game purchase. Nobody will write off something just because you forgeted up a game before, and if they do, they probably won't be the audience you are aiming for, unless you make a pewdieforget fan-game or something handicapped.
If the news spread that it really is an awesome game: nobody will care. If it was 10 years ago, nobody will care, because it was 10 loving years ago!
So don't worry about that, even if some forgeters decide to write it off, well duh, one less incompetent player for your community. A win in my eyes.
