Off Topic / Re: What, in your opinion, is music?
« on: November 30, 2013, 02:27:56 PM »
Anybody ever notice how literally everyone likes music?
Even deaf people like music. I've heard and seen on several occasions that deaf people like feeling the rhythms and beats of music, even if they can't hear it. That just kind of blows my mind. What is it about music that makes everyone like it so much?

And animals really don't ever respond to music in any way close to how people do either. People try to use dogs who dance with their owners as examples and other things like that, but I think generally those circumstances are just because the animal is either trained to respond, or they're just responding to the noise itself, or the things that come with it. Like how people act around music, or other things like that. In a lot of ways music can become conditioned stimuli to different reactions in animals depending on what happened when they heard the music, but I've never seen an animal naturally respond to music in any way close to how humans do. That doesn't make sense to me much either.

That and my religious faith have convinced me that music is a very spiritual thing that people can connect with. In my college Music Appreciation class I wrote a paper on that.

music is art, and therefore can be anything, even silence.
Actually yeah. That's an idea people have thrown around a lot recently. One pianist literally sat at his piano for several minutes and called that music. In a few different situations though, if you really focus on that silence, you can almost get a similar sensation as if you were listening to actual music. It's weird, but I'm not going to try to back that up since listening to silence isn't exactly a hobby of mine that I have experience in

If you just changed the color of the top to be the same as the rest, maybe it wouldn't have that resemblance

Since the reference you posted didn't have a different colored top either

but anyway, that looks awesome

edit-
Maybe that was the plan all along?

Looks about a thousand times better now. Maybe a little bit too detailed for my taste in BL, but it still looks much better than before

Sounds like a muscle cramp to me. Does it happen when you stretch it randomly? I normally get it if I yawn sometime out of the blue and it hurts like hell for a while and I can't move it for a bit. It also feels/kinda looks swolen. Try eating bananas and see if it persists.
This sounds a little closer to what I have. But when it happened last, I wasn't talking or stretching. It just decided to start hurting- I felt underneath my chin and it seemed like there was a lump there, but I may have imagined it.

I could mumble through my teeth, but I didn't want to move my jaw since it felt so soar. But again, it only lasted a minute or so, which is what confuses me

Well the thing is- I don't know how serious it is, if it even is serious. I'm somewhat doubtful that it's lockjaw because the description I keep reading just doesn't sound like what I'm having. And it's only happened twice for about a minute each, in the last year.

But no, I'm not going to the BLF instead of a doctor, I'm probably going to get this checked out sometime soon.

A few days ago, I got a completely random severe pain under my chin for the second time. I'm really not sure what it is. Right below my chin, where I imagine the salivary glands or something are, my jaw hurts so much that I can't move it at all. I imagine I probably could move, it just would hurt worse if I did.

At first I thought one of my salivary glands were swelling up or something, but I don't know if it's in the right place for that or not.

My second guess was that it was lockjaw- I actually first heard about it on an episode of Good Mythical Morning. But that sounds like something that lasts much longer than what I had. Both times it was a sudden pain in my jaw, and both times the pain subsided after a minute or two so I could move fine again. Every time I hear about lockjaw, it's described as lasting longer and a whole bunch of ways to relax your jaw muscles are listed.

So yeah I have no idea what's happening. I'm a little worried it's a symptom of something pretty bad but I don't know what it could be. D:

Omfg my dad called my coach today so after school my coach pulled me aside and asked how I was doing and I said ok. He asked good enough to play and I said no. I asked him of my parents called him and be said my dad did. So just to get him to shut up for a second coach and I agreed I would try and so the warmups. Had to stop being the pain in my back was coming back.
Eugh
that's like- literally the opposite of what I and Ipquarx suggested

Tell your coach how bad your injury is so that he understands that you cannot play. Then get him to make that obvious to your parents. Why are you compromising and hurting yourself more??
