Suggestions & Requests / Lag notification for hosts?
« on: September 18, 2013, 11:21:16 PM »
Hi. I'm just going to let this off right off the bat. I don't really expect it to be made into something or even be put into thought as a possible feature (as it's most likely impossible anyway, and it'd be an incredibly frustrating feature for most even if it were to be optional.). It's just been on my mind.

I host a pretty low-end server with friends, it's a listen server, not dedicated. So lag is pretty common.

The issue is that my server often has sudden spurts of latency issues. Because I am the host, I don't get the effect of lag on my server. There's only 3 ways for me to find out if my server's lagging or not.

  • Check my adapter's activity
  • Have someone say on the server that it is lagging (this comes in account for checking latency as well)
  • Spy on someone to see if their movement is freezing/stuttering (as most people on my server don't say when it's lagging. This doesn't always work because apparently players can appear to be frozen even if there's no latency drops on the server for the host.)
This isn't a complaint as all 3 of these methods are as easy as tolerating the lag, but it concerns me alot as it happens when I don't know how severe the lag actually is on my server.

Just a thought really, what if the host by any chance could get the same lag notifications as players on a listen server?

Off Topic / Innawoods Customizer
« on: March 29, 2013, 06:09:13 PM »
Hey guys,

Quite a long time ago (2009/2010), one of the forum users posted a thread regarding the project, of a game concept by the name of Innawoods. (http://innawoods-broton.blogspot.ca/)

From this point onwards, people became intrigued by the amount of resources in the project; such as weapon and equipment art - including a full layout to "create your own soldier."

The project has since then went on hiatus, but the creator recently returned, and released a functional character customizer. This contains almost all of the project's weapons and art, with the customizer being frequently updated.

http://www.innawoods.net/

There it is, have fun! Don't forget to post your character layouts here!

Don't forget, if you can - send a donation to the project! Donations will help fund the website's uptime, and bring along new additions to the customizer in return!

Help / atioglxx.dll crash - Blockland
« on: October 15, 2011, 09:42:50 PM »
This certain issue of primary concern, has been bothering me since about March 2011. I had my computer repaired for a reason irrelevant, as well as installing a driver known as ATI Catalyst Control Center. The factor behind it is still unknown, and I have tried basically anything to stop it.

The problem happens, most notoriously on Blockland, and nothing else. Where the game will simply freeze; and a Microsoft error report will appear, classifying the crash factor as "atioglxx.dll." This crash, is also relevant as being listed as "unknown," or simply "Blockland.exe."

I have reinstalled the game itself multiple times, as well as having to attempt to install a new, up-to-date driver. This OpenGL related file still continues to crash.

What is also odd; is how sometimes, this problem will deteriorate for an amount of time, and re-appears after I restart my computer for any reason.

I have a ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series video card, an Intel Celeron 347 processor, and 2.0 GB of RAM running on Windows XP SP3. Can someone, if so, please tell me if this is the game, or possibly a flaw in my system?

Clan Discussion / (Project) [SYNES]
« on: May 24, 2011, 10:57:49 AM »
Please read this topic regarding this thread, to actually get a bit of information on where this is coming from, and why.

http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=143401.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, to start off, this has been thought of for about 2 months by myself, and has become an "underground" group for about 1 month after the dismissal of Ocular Radio, and Radi0Head

The reasons of these dismissals are not because the clan and idea on the Ocular topic had gotten bad views, or had gotten no members. We had received alot of support, and we thank you for it.

The reasons are not applicable, but this does not mean Radi0Head's brief progression is "ending."

SYNES, which is "Synesthesiac" (I know the real term. Don't question.), is an independent group that will focus on introducing more musical interaction to Blockland with the opportunities we have, and maybe allow more in the near future. Let me explain.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since early January, I had decided to try if light synchronization in Blockland would work to the nearest suitable potential, and it had worked, more than I expected actually. This soon carried out in late January, had gotten attention from friends and others, and had soon developed into the clan known as Radi0Head.

The clan had lasted until March 2011, until problems started developing between the co-owner of the group (Kilser), which I had taken the time to fix. I had also went on to do other projects, and had put Ocular Radio aside, also because of the revoking to be able to host. I believe a couple of weeks ago, I had dismissed Radi0Head, but SYNES, which was basically the "split-clan" that would come ahead, was still under planning by me during the last days of Radi0Head, until now, I have decided to introduce this idea to the community, in hopes to maybe get support, and contribution in this project.

SYNES is an independent clan, which is focusing on introducing light synchronization, and DJ dynamics to Blockland, because it is possible, and has been attempted multiple times.

This isn't about completion, or anything of the sorts, but just to introduce people to this, and maybe allow people to interact with this idea with eachother, and having fun doing so.

I'm not adding format and such yet, because I have pretty much everything assorted besides actually adding design which gets morality on this thread.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All R0H members are pretty much already set to be in this, since this is technically Radi0Head in a different concept. But you may join here, we are allowing 10 people to join, if we reach the amount of 10 members, we may allow more slots.
