Qaigle International Airport
"Let's start another project that'll probably never be finished."

I once started a large-scale airport project only a week into buying the game. Of course, being the indecent builder I was back then, it was crap and never finished.
Now, I may as well revive one of my old dreams of building an international hub-sized airport, with proper facilities, security, and all.

There's not much done, but what is done appears to appeal to quite a number of people that come in.

Images are 1600x900 and there can be quite a lot of them, so I'll resort to thumbnails for the time being.

Creativity / Fictional Gun Showcase (Image Heavy, Derp)
« on: August 02, 2011, 10:38:00 AM »
/Dump

I've always had fun drawing fictional future firearms. I'm not an expert at rifle science or anything, it's just that the sharp clean rat-tat-tat of an MG can somehow release your stress. Drawing existing rifles can be boring, since you have to get every detail right and blarg.

I keep all of these in a clear plastic binder. Here's a legend of stuff I'm certain you have no clue in the following pages:

Classes:
A: Pistol
B: Heavy/High Calibre Pistol
C: Assault Rifle/LMG/Etc.
D: Shotgun
E: Sniper Rifle
F: Heavy Machine Gun
G: Mortar/RPG/Recoiless Rifle
H: Grenades/Charges/Etc.

Forcemark:
Number is the bullet impact into concrete from 10 metres.

AP40 Automatic Pistol
Automatic pistol. Fires in bursts and contains shock absorbers.

D1400 E4 Prototype
Heavy rifle. Its orignal design did not have the silencer, so it was as loud as a bomb and could damage the hearing of the user. After one year, engineers managed to design a special silencer solely for the D1400, and the silencer is now built-in.

Thompson 2K45
A remake of the popular Thompson SMG.

Yikes.

The bill is meant to make streaming digital copyrighted materials (film, music, games). If passed into law, bill S. 978 will require all internet users who have uploaded anything with copyrighted content must take down any video with copyrighted content. Yes, it includes your gaming videos.

So if you have a test video of a new event on Blockland, sorry, you must take it off of YouTube. Made a walkthrough of Portal 2 or gave an awesome soundtrack from Left 4 Dead 2 on the internet? Sorry, those must go down to. But that's not the worst part.

The REAL bad part of this all is how it makes uploading these types of entertainment anywhere on the internet punishable. If the bill does pass, you may not upload new content with copyrighted material in it.
What does this mean? Eksi wants to post the new part of his Chocolate Bar Tennis videos, he must recieve permission directly from Eric Hartman. Found a new feature on World of Warcraft you'd like to share? Send a letter to Blizzard as you need exclusive permission for posting it. Decide it's not worth the trouble to ask for permission? If your video or content gets streamed over 10 times, you are faced with either a hefty fine of a few thousand US dollars or a jail term not exceeding 5 years. Just think: IGN and Gamespot collapsing overnight.

And not only gaming videos. If you still have a video of your freshman years where you sung one of Lady Gaga's songs, that counts as well.

This bill was meant to only protect upload and access to things like TV shows and full movies, but it only states "the criminal penalty provision for criminal infringement of a copyright".

Though I AM in Hong Kong, I am still unsure whether or not this affects me since YouTube and most other entertainment sites are situated in the United States.

So yeah, bill S978.

Yikes.

Modification Help / Weapon Colours and Bullet Spread
« on: June 06, 2011, 08:07:21 AM »
Since I'm bored and school isn't giving me anything to do I'm making a weapon here. Two problems I've encountered:

First, I'm having trouble with colours and shading on the gun model. I've searched through the forums and I haven't figured out how to have colours show up on the model instead of it being plain white. I'm using the Sketchup > Blender method so deel w/ it.

Second, unless the quality standard of BL addons plummet down into the negatives, I need to know how to make bullets spread out when being fired from the gun.

Ski Resort Thing

I've found skiing in Blockland extremely top-notch. Well, I've never seen a 3-D skiing simulator thing (other than those Flash games on Miniclip that I have no idea on how to play). Logically, people would want to build a ski resort, so they do. But each time I see a ski resort/lodge/run build, I keep looking on the "map" column of the server list and keep seeing the same thing: The Slopes. Sometimes it's The Jumps or whatever it's called, but it's mostly The Slopes. I've found a few problems, however, with using The Slopes:
1. It's hard to find a decent place to build a decent lodge with decent accomadation.
2. As it gets used over and over and over you get bored of skiing down the same slope.
3. No space for ski lifts! We're always heliskiing now!

Being the bored user I am, I decided to solve all these problems I'm annoyed with: Build my own ski resort with its own slopes and lodges.

Why?
If I build my own ski resort out of the ramps and bricks I want to use, I can take a lot of control. Moguls! Ramps! Shear drops! The custom building of the mountain allows a LOT of realism. I mean, a LOT. There's the green circle slope and the double black diamonds, with the suicidal guys trying to weave through the forest and crashing into rocks and trees. The ski lifts add a lot of atmosphere. The rattle of the chairlift chairs cruising over the sheaves of the towers every once and a while makes you feel like you've got all the tools to do your stuff. The terrain can be shaped for stunning views or hotels and lodges. In between those, there are signs, night skiing lamps, fences, ski resort bus stops, rest stops and abandoned chairlift towers. The realism will be amazing. And it makes good depth-of-field shots, too.

TL;DR: No Slopes = More Control = Realism!

Stuff we need
For something like this, quite a bit will be needed:

To be built
     Anything green is done.

     -Chairlift Towers
     -Gondola Towers
     -Fixed-Grip Chairlift Terminal
     -Detatchable Grip (high-speed) Chairlift Terminals
     -Gondola Terminals
     -Bus Stop
     -Signs
     -Night Skiing Lights
     -Fence Segments
     -Trees
     -Fixed-grip terminal manning cabin
-Anything you can come up with
(Extreme skiing equipment like grinding rails and large ramps are permitted, but I want to finish basic things first)

To be modeled and scripted
-Sound effects (mainly for the ski lifts) (WE NEED THESE NAUGHW)
-Custom prints (green circle, red square, double red square, black diamond and double black diamond difficulty signs and single, double, triple, quad, six-pack and quad canopy-fitted (hooded) chairlift signs.
-A long-range bright light if the regular brights are too short-ranged

     -Chairlifts and gondolas:
-Chairlifts: Single, double, triple, quad, six-pack and quad canopy-fitted (hooded). The chairlifts should be based off of this, but with this grip.
-Gondolas: 8 seater, 4 seats on each side of the car. Base off of this and ignore the god-awful watermark.
       -Resort Bus (Trivial)

I'm not gonna build the actual mountain terrain and slopes until I get the components done.

May I Help?
Sure! The easiest way to help is to get onto the darn server and start building useful things. Giving recommendations about what stuff to add (especially to the to-build list) would help. To me, the ski lift towers are done for now, but are wide open for variations in case I miss anything. Currently I only have:
-Regular height chairlift tower, 4 sheaves
-Regular height chairlift tower, 6 sheaves
-Short height chairlift tower, 4 sheaves
-Short height chairlift tower, 6 sheaves
-Terminal exit dual tower, 12 sheaves
-High-speed terminal exit dual tower, 12 sheaves
-Regular height gondola tower, 8 sheaves
-Short height gondola tower, 8 sheaves

Terrain Guideline Crap
-Any area not designated for skiing and/or forested should be made with detail down to x4 blocks.
-Any area not designated for skiing but can be easily accessible by skiiers should be made with detail down to x2 blocks.

-Any ski area should be made mostly out of ramps. Recommended slopes:
-Flat to 18 degree for easy
     -18 - 45 degree for intermediate
     -45 - 60 degree for expert
-45 - vertical cliff for suicidals

We are currently: Building Whitecast ski village

Oh, boy, [BAN]! I gotta build a spaceship of really good quality and--

AHH! ALIENS!

...OK, I can't build in space...looks like I gotta build back on the ground.

[BAN] Ground-Based Defense Suite
"Fire everything!"

In most cases, a spaceship attacking a ground position isn't very efficient. It costs a lot, and if your enemy manages to bring your shields down and punch a hole through the engine, you're screwed. Logical-ho: Ground units are cheap and if they get destroyed, you just build another set in about 5 minutes. Goody goody. Now if you are smart, you've probably figured out that the enemy might try and counterattack, no? Why not build some ground based defenses, eh? A suite, in fact. Hey, one coming right up:

Ain't it look pretty...oh? You want a tour? Sure. Why not. For free for only $100. Let's go...

Each machine of insanity in that picture up there (excluding the ED9 and the two vehicles) each have their own pretty little levers or buttons. Heck, there's even a button that you can press which brings up a somewhat brief info block right in your chat.

PAAAAGE STREEEETCH
(Sorry, was I too late?)

DT2 Light Plasma Cannon

The DT1 was first designed and built in 2286, but was later banned when an explosion critically injured 27 soldiers in 2289 (huehue). A year later, the DT2 came on and is now in service as a safer version. The DT2 fires plasma pellets about 3 times a second. It also possesses a unique "overcharge" feature which fires a larger plasma projectile. The DT2 is mainly used as an automatic defense mechanism, but can be mounted on any vehicle or spacecraft.

LDT1 Gauss Cannon Tower

The LDT1 was designed in 2342 as a solution for quickly setting up basic defenses. It utilizes 20th/21st century technology, so it is mainly used to take out infantry and light vehicles. The LDT1 is essentially a small version of the DT2. Most people underestimate the LDT1, as it only fires gun projectiles. Alone it is quite ineffective, but clustered together they can be quite devastating. It is also useful as assistance for more powerful turrets with a lower rate of fire.

Silencer II Anti-Air SAM Launcher

The Silencer was created in 2320. Since then it was used more and more as a high-end AA turret. The Silencer ll is practically the same as its precursor, except that it has an added homing rocket feature. A very powerful, devastating AA weapon, the Silencer ll is multi-purpose and can be mounted on any vehicle, battleship, aircraft or spacecraft big enough to support it. It also has a configured turret to the Silencer I, enabling it to fire at ground targets.

Longhammer Light Artillery Installation

The Longhammer has seen its fair share of use since 2237. Though expensive, the Longhammer packs an incredible amount of power and range. At least, at the time it was first designed. The Longhammer has not been used for the past few years as a proper weapon, due to the inefficiency and the amount of power required. This version in front of you has a shortened range, for safety reasons.

Deciever Pop-up Turret

Though weak, the Deciever can be deployed in large numbers to assist other turrets. The Deciever can pop up at any time and startle the enemy. It is also armed with a shock system that causes the attacker to go confused for a few moments.

Tripwire Cloakable Mine
Possibly the most stealthiest mine ever made, the Tripwire can hide completely from sight and still be able to retain its full strength. It combines a 200MW lightning charge with lots of flammable hydrogen to make one of the neatest explosions ever.

TPC Triple Plasma Turret

Three plasma cannons make the TPC a scary sight. Using a special Heavy lonizer Engine, it can propel plasma pellets a protracted distance and burn enemy units to a black crisp. It does, however, require immense amounts of power, so USE WITH CAUTION...!

Devastator Gatling Gun

First deployed for practical use in 2359, the Devastator packs an amazing punch at any enemy unit. Its six high-powered turrets fire giant projectiles at any foe, decimating entire armies in seconds. The Devastator usually gets grouped in with other Devastators to create an effectively invincible defensive line.

Now, wouldn't we love to get a cheap way to move around?
Holy stuff man no stupid picture in this section

Heavy General Purpose Vehicle

You know you wanna drive it.

A 600HP engine drived by a nuclear reactor (old fashioned) can propel this huge thing at something like 280kph+. Its windows are bulletproof and its armour is almost impenetrable. Hey, it's even got a radio!

Light General Purpose Vehicle

More or less a van. Bulletproof windows, sliding doors. And a radio.

That's all there is to that~

Oh, and one final thing:

ED9 Shield Generator (INCOMPLETE)

A one-way shield generator. You can only shoot out, not in. And it looks pretty, too. Only problem is, it doesn't work.

Please vote yes/no or rate out of ten. Xerces, if you want to toss me into the event section instead, I'll be fine attach the save file.
And you just lost the game.

Drama / Since he dared me to...
« on: February 26, 2011, 05:32:59 AM »
Today I was on Diggy's Metro RP. I was building a base with RelliK when Johny3Tears comes by and starts running around, with Darth right behind him trying to kill John. This happened several times, and I thought to just ignore it.

After a few times it stopped, but John kept hanging around the base. At one point he asked if we needed traps around the base. I said "No Thanks", since traps were illegal on the server. Immediately after that, he stated that "this is not the place to build a base" and that he's "got the perfect meduim back there". RelliK declines; John starts to show a little bit of frustration. After Darth murders him for the 2nd 3rd 4th a reason we'll probably never find out, John decides to position himself so it looks like I'm having buttlove with him. I try to get away, but he keeps doing so. Out of frustration I kill him. When I'm done paying half my dems off, he starts doing it again. I start complaining of his immaturity, he continues.

I start to build a simple wood table (temporary, as I didn't want to use up too much resources for a temporary piece of furniture). John starts to bitch about how the wood table is unfitting in the seemingly high-tech base, and RelliK indirectly agrees with him.

I remove it and start to build a larger, more permanent table of wedges and stuff. John keeps on moaning on how it's bad and how he can build better. I ask him to leave. He continues saying "nooooo". RelliK then asks John to leave, only to have him saying that we're "mean" and he "just wanna give u base of ur dreams maan". John throws a few insults and acts perverted again before leaving.

After Sleven murders me, building, talking about RelliK's embarrasing moment that got posted on the Metro RP topic and the paying of dems, John decides to kill RelliK while he's AFK. I see that John did kill RelliK, as John tries to convince me not to.

Past a few insults, he dares me to post a drama on the forums.

And here we are.

Help / Can't Start a Game on Windows 7
« on: January 22, 2011, 04:21:52 AM »
I'll get straight to it: Whenever I try launching a game (yes, even in single player mode), Blockland freezes entirely. I've once left it running for about 15 minutes and it still didn't do anything. I've noticed that it stops responding at the console line "Executing config/server/musicList.cs." I'm running a (holy shoot big surprise here ready ready) Windows 7.

I've tried:
-Reinstalling BL
-Setting to Windows XP SP3 compatability (since that was the last time it worked)
-Running as admin

What the hell is going on?
