EXODUS

a new virtual multicultural hub

Exodus is a new cross-community experiment that seeks to create a communal space for both serious discussion, as well as play.

We seek to create a virtual space where people of all communities can integrate to discuss their own individual cultural outlooks, integrate them, and debate; in essence, a community between communities.

Please read the rules when you come in.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jan/04/gasolinazo-mexico-gasoline-price-hike-protests-petrol

Quote(s) from the article:
Quote
Demonstrators have blockaded highways, looted shops and forced service stations across Mexico to close in a wave of angry protest triggered by a hike of more than 20% in the government-set price of gasoline.

The announcement of the price increase came on 1 January – when long queues of cars were already forming at pumps because national oil giant Pemex was unable to supply all gas stations due to problems with oil refining and fuel shortages caused by theft.

The so-called gasolinazo – as the price hike is known – added insult to injury, and since then, protests have spiraled. Truckers, taxi drivers and irate individuals have blocked the main highways into Mexico City and major thoroughfares in the capital, prompting bus lines to cancel service.

...

“It’s an economic issue,” said López, 24. “Salaries are not very good. If gasoline goes up, it provokes an inflation in the cost of the items we consume daily,”
he added, reciting a list of common complaints among Mexicans. “The first thing that gets hit are people’s pocketbooks.”

Forum Games / add five words to the end
« on: August 21, 2016, 11:29:23 AM »
UPDATE: AOL-Speak, leetspeak, emoticons, etc. do not count as words from now on. (with the exception of posts already made, of course)

This is like most other chain-letter games, with the exception of every post adding five words to the end of the letter rather than one at a time. You may start and stop sentences as you please. I will start.

Help / Running the Steam version of Blockland under Wine
« on: August 07, 2016, 10:47:36 PM »
I have recently switched to Xubuntu 16.04 and would like to attempt to run my legally owned copy of Blockland with Steam authentication, if possible, as opposed to buying another key and playing it with a non-Steam client. I have thought of clicking the "CD Key" link on the side of the window to acquire the key I had before switching it over to my Steam account, but have found, much to my disappointment, that the said option does not display. I have also taken the liberty of using this script to manually create an app-manifest to force Steam to install Blockland (it wouldn't do so under normal circumstances and I would get an error like this every time), and yet I have found, similarly frustratingly, that the .exe files were not installed with it.

If I could either run it under Steam normally (as is preferred) or acquire the original key before the Steam switch-over, I would be very much appreciative.

Thank you.

This links to an online form with a message warning against the extraordinarily predatory and restrictive Trans-Pacific Partnership created by the Electronic Frontier Foundation that will be emailed to your local representatives upon being filled out. Please fill this out and notify others of its existence, as it already has little to no notoriety. Thank you to any member of the Blockland Forums who takes the time to complete this form.

So, I'm not sure exactly how I should make a thread like this, or even what to say. Either way, I'm 17 today, so that's cool.

EDIT: Would it be weird/out of place for me to ask for Steam games?

I've asked multiple friends this and it seems that I get very interesting responses whenever I ask. Anyway, feel free to answer.
