Is there a way of using one option to control more nodes? So for example we have a car that has a body, a left door, a right door, a hood and a trunk. For the sake of animation, these are separate objects. Now if I wanted to add a bodykit that which has bits that are part of the whole bodykit, would there be a way of making the "bodykit option" change the door object node?

Are you planning to add more options for the vehicles? Some have separate doors and trunks. And maybe a few more options. Actually, I was thinking that the names of the changeable part groups shouldn't be specific as "hood, roof, etc", as the gui could read the name of the changeable area group from the script of the vehicle (if it's possible).

Yes, it is absolutely possible. That's why some of my copcars have differently colourable parts. (Think of the Blocko Sedan and the Hatchback)

Some can be updated, the rest just shouldn't show up on the enhanced gui. You should be still able to spawn them with the regular gui.

How so? There's enough empty space on the default vehicle spawn gui for a button like that. And it would cost less datablocks, as you wouldn't need to create a separate brick for it.

I've been raving and ranting about a system like this for years. Let's hope something will happen this time. Been wanting this for such a long time.

Instead of the /command, it could be a button on the wrench spawn gui.

Also, there should be some "other" options if you want to colour some parts of your cars differently. What if you wanted a siena tan interior with your dark blue car?

This game would be dead without the modding community.

Pretty much every feature added after v8 was originally a mod.

1. Wrench Events.


You're wrong here. Space Guy made the wrench events after hearing about the events system for v9. He figured he could re-purpose his trap bricks add-on as a substitute for the event system.

So I've been working on modifying the shaders to add soft, blurred shadows (configurable).
I would release this, but there are several problems with doing so:

  • You cannot replace files in shaders/ from an add-on anymore.
  • If I were to release the modified GLSL file itself,
    • you'd have to replace it and re-apply your shader settings every time you start Blockland.
    • you'd have to edit the file itself and do the above to change any settings for it.

Ideas for a viable way of releasing it would be very much appreciated.
Oh well, have some screenshots.

Reasons for holding it back has been highlighted here. He would release had it not been for some changes that rendered custom shaders useless.

Modelwise the car is pretty much done. All I need to do is adding the instrument panel things, finalising the roll-cage, and rigging it. I'm thinking about not adding hood/door/trunk animations for this one, but that's up for debate. I'll probably re-add the black hood thing later on.

Looks nice so far, but the badge is way too detailed in comparison with the rest. You should make  that more simple and use a texture for the "B" instead.

Most definitely. I found a very neat arcade racer setup for vehicles in Torque.
