Off Topic / Automatic Aspect Ratios

How do I get the aspect ratio to automatically change on fullscreen programs?  My old monitor used to do it (After I upgraded to Windows 7), and my new monitor can change it using a button on its remote.  My brother's laptop does it automatically too.  Is there any way to enable this in Windows' settings?

Alright, you know the drill, time for hypocrisy.  I'm starting to notice how much of asses we are being. I swear, every other thread I post in, an argument against someone starts.  It's getting ridiculous.  Around this time it seems that this forum has a really high tensions.  I would like to see that be lowered.  Sure, we will always have differences, but some of the arguments I've started and seen are really bad.  There are many times where it has started about game console fanboy-ism. THe most recent one I've seen is about examples of an art style. (Though I won't get into that)  Really guys, it's gone too far now.  Just calm down and loosen up a little bit, it's for this forum's own good.

Off Topic / Ubuntu Upgrade From Disk

I've googled around, but I still can't figure out my problem here. 
For some reason, Ubuntu is stopped working with my network card, so I have to install from disk, there's one problem, though.  I have the disks, but when I try to upgrade from disk, it tries to perform a network update.
I'm on the 9.04, I think.  I'm upgrading to 9.10, then I'll go to 10.04.

Games / Zeno Clash

Just played through, it's great. 

Zeno Clash is a fighting game, kind of like soul caliber or tekken or whatever, but you fight multiple guys at one time. It's a tried and true formula, but there's a twist: it's first person.  There are also a few weapons to use on enemies.  It's a bit on the short side, but it's worth a play or two.  And there's also achievements and another play mode called "the Pit" in which you play through various stages of enemies.  In the Xbox version, I'm pretty sure you can also play the Pit in split screen. 

The game is out for Xbox and PC through steam.  It costs $15.  If you buy it on Steam and also own Garry's Mod, you can download "Zeno Clash Models" in the tools section of steam, and then you can mount Zeno Clash on Garry's Mod.

Off Topic / Switching Cases - Good Idea?

I'm wanting to transfer to a new case.  (My current one sucks, the door came off, and I would rather have something better.)  I'm considering switching to an Antec 900/2.  First off, which should I go with, and second, I've fryed two motherboards doing this.  I think the cause was the stuffty cooler I had. (it was a screw-in thing from asia vital parts or w/e) Now I'm using a stock intel cooler. So what are my chances of destroying another? I guess I'm less likely to, because I did it once while putting in my new cpu, and I screwed up pins, but didn't break the mobo, and now that that's done right, I guess it's much easier.  Should I upgrade?

Suggestions & Requests / Physics Improvements

I would love to see many improvements to BL's physics engine. It would be nice for bricks with different collision to actually get that collision when on the ground.  Also, it would be great to have bricks slide around a lot less.  Another thing is that bricks fall through things way too much.  That would be great to have that for vehicles and fakekilled bricks.  And I noticed something: I can't seem to have 300 or more bricks fakekilled at once.  The 300th and up bricks just go to the non-physics fakekilling.  If there were a way to make it so bricks are physics no matter what (Client side, of course) I would love that.  Also, the fakekill event should support being at -1 and having bricks fakekilled forever. (with physics)

Off Topic / "PS3 has no games LOLOL"

Really, it's not funny.  It may have been decently funny back when there were just a few games at the PS3's launch, but now it has about as many games as the Xbox 360.  Why was this revived?  It's like making a George Bush joke, or saying "Xbox is hueg!".  Now just about every ps3 related thread is spammed with people posting that "PS3 HAZ NO GAEMZ! LULZ EPIC WIN" I don't see how posting it doesn't get people banned, it's just as dismissive as "I don't care" or "Cool story br0", and contributes nothing to the thread other than "Hey I'm an starfish!".

Since he's blocked me from PMing him for some reason, I'm forced to post this here.  Oromis has recently been posting in third person a lot, like

Oro has a blank face on his look, as well as a blank look on his face.

and

oro is reconsidering this game...even though oro hated pearl and diamond... so...3 dimensional....so much more movement... so many less stuffty pokemon...

It's really annoying.  Wasn't someone banned for doing it once?

Games / Emulation - What's Legal

There seems to be a bit of confusion about emulation.  Emulators are completely legal.  Stop harrassing people when they post about them.  They're fine.  Don't harrass about how the poster obtained the ROMs, it's none of your business.

Now the reason I'm making this is because there is confusion about obtaining ROMs.  You can obtain a ROM in any way if it's abandonware (the company isn't making money from the product), so that's just fine and dandy, but be careful about the credibility of whatever site it is on.  I've seen sites which have illegal downloads that were labled abandonware.  But downloading other ROMs however, is illegal no matter what.  Even if you own the game, it's illegal.  You must rip the ROM yourself from the physical copy.  Most people can't do this.  But you may be able to get a license for the game to use on an emulator from the publisher or developer, if I'm not mistaken.

Anyone else notice it?  You can now "sculpt" displacements, and there's an instancing menu.  Now the grid's gone and models are black in 3d view, valve needs to fix it soon.  I think it's a merge of the l4d2 sdk and source sdk.
