Games / Steam Compatibility Mode Forced
« on: April 20, 2010, 09:04:54 PM »
I know, this isn't the steam support forum, but no one has replied to my post there, so I figured that I may get help faster here.

Windows 7 decided to force steam to run in compatibility mode for some stupid reason (It said that steam is not running right, so it forced compatiblity mode, I had NO say.) So when I start up steam, it gives me a warning about it, so I'm trying to turn it off, but the thing is, steam.exe has no compatibility settings set, so windows did this in some random menu I don't know about.  I need help figuring out how to shut compatibility off.

Off Topic / Ubuntu Question: Media Drive?
« on: April 01, 2010, 01:35:20 PM »
When I'm trying to upgrade ubuntu to 9.10, it came up with the option to upgrade from disk, so I put the disk I had burned a long time ago for it in, but it wouldn't load it on the upgrade manager, there's an icon for it on my desktop, but it just won't load.  Apparently it has to be mounted in /cdrom/ but my drive is /media/, is there a way I can still upgrade from disk and not have to sit through a really long download for a second time?

Suggestions & Requests / Improved onTouch
« on: March 26, 2010, 11:34:49 PM »
After using Hammer's event system, I would love to see something like "onStartTouch" and "onEndTouch" Which are pretty self-explanatory, and also have it count when you're in a brick without ray casting or collision.

Creativity / Mapping
« on: March 19, 2010, 05:54:04 PM »
This thread is dedicated to mapping for video games, whether it is for Blockland, from hammer, or anything else, it should go here.

A new portal idea I thought up:

Looks like a normal fizzler, right?

Wrong!
This fizzler can be disabled to get something like a cube out of that room.

Games / NBA Jam - Boom Shaka Laka!
« on: March 14, 2010, 11:14:55 AM »
There's going to be a remake of the classic arcade basketball game NBA Jam coming out for Wii.  The game includes a bit of the same art style, the players are 3d, but the heads are 2d pictures.

Games / Is Battlefield 1943 Still Coming?
« on: March 06, 2010, 12:50:41 PM »
I mean really, DICE ported Battlefield Bad Company 2 to PC faster than 1943, has DICE given up?  I would like a real release date.

Games / Shattered Horizon Free Weekend

Who has tried it/is planning to?  It's actually pretty cool.  It DOES get a bit confusing at points sometimes, like when you want to go down, but you go to where you think is the right.  (But remember, the gate is down.)  It is really fun though.  It takes a pretty good computer to run though, and doesn't support Windows XP.

Off Topic / "PS3 Has No Games!!!!11!!"
« on: February 15, 2010, 11:39:26 AM »
That's enough.  You've ran the joke into the ground again.  It's just annoying now.  It was funny the first two times, but now it's not.  Now all threads vaguely relating to PS3 are spammed up with the same thing, "PS3 HAZ NOE GAEMZ!!!!!!!11!!"  Really, be original.

Suggestions & Requests / Lighting update
« on: February 15, 2010, 09:01:37 AM »
I don't know how easy/hard it would be, but I would really like to see a better lighting system being used instead of vertex lighting on bricks.  The current system looks horrible on baseplates and other large bricks.  Also, along with this update, it would be neat to see bump mapping on bricks added.  (And also making the brick texture not light up in the dark.)  Also something really cool, but I doubt is going to happen, is shadows.  Kind of like the new bloxel shots that have those shadows.

Drama / No, I Don't Want to Help You With a Project.
« on: February 01, 2010, 03:45:18 PM »
I swear, every time I play blockland longer than normal, someone pms me on the RTB IRC and asks for help on a project.  Does anyone else get this?  I mean really, I don't care about your project.  I don't really want to help, all that you're doing is getting yourself on my block list.
