The other one was too old to post in, and Starbound has changed considerably in that time-frame.
What's New:
The Spacefarer Update! (Version 1.3.2)
A Complete revamp of space travel, mechs, and much more.
Space travel rework:
Navigation was overhauled, The most notable change is that the Space Map can now zoom in on different galaxies, down to the planatary level. Planets also are shown with lines of orbit, with either a list/number of orbiting bodies depending on whether you've explored it or not.
Mechs
Certain objects (such as unidentified ships, anomalies space stations) will require a mech to visit. You can add weapons and tools to your mech to defeat powerful new monsters, or you could deploy your mech to a planet to crush enemies with overwhelming force.
