If you haven't done so already, I'd recommend using Cave Editor to remove the requirement for copyrighted bitmaps and change the image reader to read .bmp files instead of .pbm. By default, doukutsu.exe reads for the string "(C)Pixel" at the end of its .pbm files, and spits out an error if that string isn't found. You can remove this requirement via Cave Editor's Game Settings option:

Once you've done both steps, it automatically changes all the .pbm files in the data folder to bitmaps and you can use 24-bit bitmaps however you like without restricting pallette limits.

There's also a load of other neat stuff you can do to cave story through Cave Edit and hex editors, like changing the game font to something nicer.

Is trading the Polar Star for Curly's machine gun worth it?
I always take the machine gun because of the jetpack effect at level 3 which is extremely useful (until you get the booster). I don't mind losing the spur/whatever just for this reason.

It's sad that Volition just can't get their act straight with the PC platform anymore. How they could possibly think that such poor port jobs are an acceptable product is beyond me.

I'm going to go ahead and take a wild guess that the game is unplayable in vehicles...

I had this problem on the revolver model but I don't properly know how to fix it. I ended up merging several model groups together and apparently it worked, but I'm sure that's not how you actually fix it.

How far are you? I'm having trouble organizing my days to save Yukiko. Which days should I socialize on and which days should I go into the TV?
I'm up to the third dungeon and around 20 hours into the game.

I don't put much thought into organizing my days, usually I just alternate days when I explore one or two floors of the dungeon (and I always buy at least one Goho-M on those days) and then work on my social links the next day. If you're really looking for a way to maximize your social links and pick days to go into the TV then perhaps you should take a look at the Persona 4 guide wiki. It has schedules and lists on what days which people can be visited.

There are 8 floors to Yukiko's dungeon and you have 11 days to explore them all. I would explore at least two or maybe three floors every second day, and when you hit floor 8 return home and come back on a later day, prepared for the boss. Also, keep in mind that there is a couple weeks of free time inbetween each dungeon section where you have free reign to do whatever you want until the next dungeon comes up.

Really there isn't any particular way to screw up short of actively refusing to explore the dungeon.

Maps / Re: Dustlands

Improperly packaged and doesn't work directly. The folder "Map_Dustlands" inside the zip is unnecessary, the content should be in the zip and the zip is placed into the Add-Ons folder without being extracted.

Otherwise a good map.
