If they weren't made out of food they wouldn't be treated as such. They're as sentient and soulful as vegetables.
But plants dont have a central nervous system as many animals do, they don't really feel in the same way.

Which is why I usually get meat from the local butcher in my town, the farms that raise the animals for them are properly taken care of unlike the battery farms most stores get their meat from.
That's cool, as long as you do as much as you can I guess
I'm not trying to sound condescending or anything okay
-sorry for first messed up post-

as horrendous as it is to see those scenes of chicken farms, badly-executed cow slaughtering et cetera, real meat is still WAY MORE APPETIZING to me than substitutes.
I've gotten used to it after a while. I don't remember what real meat tastes like so fake stuff tastes pretty alright :P
I tried a burger recently (They accidently brought my brother a beef burger instead of a veggie burger), if theres anything I hate more than eating meat it's wasting food, they would have thrown it away. I guess I kind of got over the taste, I like vegetarian burgers way more now

I once saw a video showing a dead person with a dog right next to him, trying to get attention in hopes that someone could bring the man back alive.
It was pretty sad :c
Have you seen that movie Hachi? The dog goes to the train station to meet his owner every day, even though his owner is dead. He does it every day until the dog passes away ;n;
I think its based off a true story in Japan or something like that. Really sad movie

No.
But we need to be much more careful when dealing with other species or else we could forget up our environment even more.
It's just some disturbed people who like seeing stuff like that happen to innocent animals. They probably need mental help or something :/

There is no excuse to be cruel, and I agree with that, but I'd rather be protecting and helping people than animals.
In this particular case it is possible to protect both. What these people did is very disturbing. It doesn't really "help" these sick people to let them do this to these animals other than for them to satisfy their weird desires. I don't really understand what you're trying to say here :s

Technology is pretty much the cheat code to survival, I'm no tree hugger but this explains why we can kill even the most adapted of animals with it, which is pretty unfair.
This is kind of true but the development of technology as well as the intelligence needed to do so is technically part of survival of the fittest.
I still don't think it's an excuse to be cruel, animals feel pain just like we do :c

The companies would definitely back down from stuff like this everyone protested and stopped eating meat, but not enough people would.
It's basically like trying to get a pack of bloodthirsty tigers to start eating granola bars instead of animals.
Yeah :c
