If you're really so concerned about the drive breaking down, then invest in an SSD. It's at least immune to mechanical failure.You can't recover data from a SSD if something tragic were to happen (Ex: it gets wet in a flood or a power surge).

lol you're seriously saying IDE > SATA? bahahahah wtf XDI'm saying exactly that. I've had a WD Caviar SE for 2 years before it died. I have this Seagate IDE drive, 10 years of age, 120GBs, 5200RPM, has a few bad sectors, gives an opera when writing/spinning and it STILL works.
