dont forget that the government's members have just as much of an impact as the laws that limit them
not quite sure what you mean by that

my draft for an ideology system, combined with a set of more specific tenets (such as Jairo's) that can be added over time

Ideological Positions
Every ideology has 4 central positions that define the ideology. Exactly one from each category, must be defined in the ideology. Sharing positions with another nation increases relations.

Government
* Democracy: Happiness increased, but efficiency decreased. Gains bonus wealth when trading with other democracies. Decreased relations with autocracies.
* Autocracy: Efficiency increased, but happiness decreased. Gains bonus troop strength when fighting alongside other autocracies. Decreased relations with democracies.
* Monarchy: Culture increased, but science decreased. Gains bonus prestige when working with other monarchies. Decreased relations with technocracies.
* Technocracy: Science increased, but culture decreased. Gains bonus research from agreements with other technocracies. Decreased relations with monarchies.
* Anarchy: Not available for choice, as it automatically abolishes the state; simply here for completeness.
Economy
* Communism: Happiness greatly increased in the lower class, greatly decreased in the upper class. Relations with capitalists and laissez-faire decreased.
* Socialism: Happiness increased in the lower class, decreased in the upper class. Relations with laissez-faire decreased.
* Capitalism: Happiness increased in the upper class, decreased in the lower class. Relations with communists decreased.
* Laissez-Faire: Happiness greatly increased in the upper class, greatly decreased in the lower class. Relations with communists and socialists decreased.
Society (including religion)
* Radical: Generally atheist and anti-theist, and accelerating social progress. Greatly decreases discrimination.
* Liberal: Generally secular but accepting, and promoting social progress. Decreases discrimination.
* Conservative: Generally religious, and halting social progress. Increases patriotism.
* Reactionary: Generally pious and inquisitional, and reversing social progress. Greatly increases patriotism.
Additional (extra defining feature)
* Jingoism: Large boost to troop morale and war exhaustion, but severe penalty to diplomatic relations.
* Pacifism: Large boost to diplomatic relations, but severe penalty to troop morale in offensive wars and war exhaustion.
* Environmentalism: Increase to culture and diplomatic relations, and reduces risk of ecological disaster. However, negatively impacts the economy.
* Nationalism: Prestige boosts and military victories increase happiness and troop morale, but prestige hits and military losses decrease happiness and increase militancy.
* Centrism: Slightly decreases the relation penalty between ideologies. Basically the "default" if you don't want an additional position.

keep in mind that if ideologies are tracked globally, then this is per-ideology, not per-nation
changes to an ideology's positions can be made via consensus by its members
specific tenets (like Jairo's) would probably be on a national basis, with perhaps an "Ideological Exception" tenet that allows the nation to change one ideological position

Examples from history:
Freedom (Western Bloc): Democracy, Capitalism, Conservative (changed to liberal later in the Cold War), Centrism
Marxism (Eastern Bloc): Autocracy, Communism, Radical, Nationalism
Fascism (Axis Powers): Autocracy, Socialism, Reactionary, Jingoism
Imperialism: Monarchy, Laissez-Faire, Conservative, Nationalism
Green Politics: Democracy, Socialism, Liberal, Environmentalism

Witch role? It exists and I could possibly add it.
no I mean historically the Salem Witch Trials didn't involve any kind of mafia

2675
it bothers me that this involves the mafia even though the salem witch trials had nothing to do with mafia :(

replace DOS with RLSD (the Linux distro)

1. Weak opinion: both arguments have merits, but it is true that criminals will break gun laws either way. Then again, crime as acts of impulse would be prevented. They should be somewhat restricted, but not banned. However, I'm against automatic firearm ownership - there's no legitimate reason for owning one.

2. Pro-decriminalization for harmless drugs: drugs like marijuana, which have proven medical uses and are not addictive nor too unhealthy, they should be legalized. It would turn cannabis from a monetary drain (prison and the War on Drugs) to a monetary source (tax) and stop cartels. This does not apply to meth, cocaine, heroin, etc, because they're far too harmful and addictive for the public.

3. Very anti-affirmative action: Yeah, I have a lot to say about this. It's discrimination, and creating divides between race/religion/etc will increase hatred, not defuse it. Jobs should be based on merit alone.

I found/made a cool function :P
sign(x) * (1 - e^(-|x|))
you can replace e with any number > 1

Or SQRT^3()
you would think, but no
x^(1/3) or cube root of x does not approach -1 and 1, it approaches -INF and +INF
it's possibly arctan(x), the logistic function (as phlack said), the error function, or the cumulative normal distribution

however assuming you're not in statistics, it's probably arctan or logistic

That isn't a function yet.
Assuming this is a laptop:
Create melt.cs
In melt.cs
Function heat() {/*infinite loops*/ function echoMe() {echo("Echo") echoMe;}; while(1=1) {launch C:\downloads\internet explorer};};
function meltcomputer() {fan.speed(0); heat();};
Now type inHope I got all that JavaScript right...
okay hold on
how do you expect JS to run on DOS?
and why did you use a .cs extension

the media. its the cause of 99% of our problems.

why do people want to ban the confederate flag and not the kool kids klub? because the media didnt tell them to be upset with the kool kids klub.

you have the right to wave that flag. you have the right to be in the kool kids klub.

that flag is hung on poles. the kool kids klub goes around and discriminates against black people directly.

why would u be more concerned over the flag instead of the kool kids klub? because the media isnt talking about the kool kids klub
also this

People are ignorant because of the media. They tell us what is and isn't relevant  to support the two main ideologies - if one media group (Fox) can hyper-pander to conservatives, and the other (CNN) can hyper-pander to liberals, then everyone is forced to pick one or the other, boosting both stations' revenues and upholding a monopoly biopoly. They gain to prevent public education, because then they might start having dissenting political views, which would take away revenue! It's a vicious cycle - people listen purely to Fox/CNN because they're ignorant, and they're ignorant because they listen purely to Fox/CNN.

Holy stuff, this looks hilarious. It's nice to see Germany finally stopped taking history so seriously and took a joke.

First and foremost, ignorance of citizens.

People simply don't do enough research before deciding on their opinion of things, especially political issues.
However, it's also true for science, math, history, etc; they take the opinion of "school is dumb and for nerds! I'll never need this! Let's forget it all immediately!" which is genuinely awful. Knowing things not only looks good to others, but it can be very interesting and in my opinion leads to a more enriching life.

oh good i'm like the only person to write an actual response
