op what is wrong with you bro

dark themes are much better for coding at night, since they're not as harsh on the eyes
and imo they just look better, even during the day

dark guis is good for dark rooms but why you would do anything on the computer without a light source is beyond me

saves electricity man, it's not like i need it to type (partially because i have a LED keyboard, but also because i just don't need to look down)

i mean, it's simply not true that "every bit of computer security is broken"
what is true is that "almost all computers are vulnerable to a new processor exploit"

edit: also, from what i can tell, this is a much bigger problem for businesses and servers than for consumers

i'm running linux anyway, and while it's obviously not immune to this exploit, it's less likely to be targetted

it's an infringement of copyright that's being dealt with

so?
1. the original artist is not being harmed, since most games don't have purchasable soundtracks
2. the game developers might actually benefit, since good music is a factor in people purchasing a game (not particularly relevant here because it's such an old game)
3. people are getting enjoyment from it

i'm not arguing that they didn't have the legal right to issue copyright claims, i'm arguing that they're starfishs for doing it anyway

they could have just notified the user, and ask them to take it down. instead they went straight for the nuclear option

to be fair a lot of game soundtracks aren't available otherwise, you let me know if you find an officially-released disc of Mario Party 3 songs
it's not really a question of "are these copyright claims legitimate," because they obviously are; it's the fact that his uploads aren't usually harming the copyright holder

Oh no now weirdos who listen to video game music have to go on a different channels to get their fix

it's a singleplayer card-battle game
it's fun so far because i'm a sucker for card-based things but the game kind of heavily relies on luck for you to draw the right card
but that isn't so much more different from every other card-based game so it's familiar to me

oh, I saw some videos of that! looks fun

tristan can you explain your thoughts on capitalism

it has unfortunate side effects and leads to inequality, poverty, and considerable suffering, but it also leads to economic growth and innovation
in any case, total state control is definitely not the answer. i'm a fan of social democracy; you get most of the benefits of capitalism, but wealth redistribution and welfare programs lessen the negative effects

syndicalism might work too but i'm not well-versed in it so i'm not entirely sure
