Get wanted icns. file
Copy
Go to Finder and right click
Get info
There should be a picture in the top right corner, click that and press command v
P.S

I don't believe that works anymore. For a definite way to do it, download the program Candybar, and download an icon pack you want from Icon Factory.com. Import the icon pack to Candybar and customize as you like.

I nominate Trifax for his quality of personality. He's not the most famous or popular, but people know who he is.

That really huge post is full of stuff that's already been posted, and one has a nipple clearly visible.

You said Microsoft was playing catch-up with it's operating system(s). I said Apple was doing the same thing with both of their OSs.

And by the way, Apple is even bragging over MOX's UNIX heritage.

They don't brag about it, it's a selling point.

And by your logic, every company is always playing catch-up. Both companies are working to create the best operating system they can produce, so you can hardly call that playing catch-up.

I should have anticipated the debate, knowing this community.

Legitimate business's don't rip people off. It's not even in their best intentions. If they started to, people would notice and warn those who didn't, and then they would lose business. It's the majik of the market.
Though people would much more rather buy it if it was cheaper. Let's say it costs $1 to produce a box of apples, but you charge $6 saying that you "need" the extra money. The guy down the road realizes that apples cost $1 to produce and then sells them for $2. Everyone would flock to him, and though he is charging less per Box, He's selling more boxes and therefore making more money. Again, The market is a beautiful thing.

The problem with that is, yes they're kind of over priced, but they're not found anywhere else for a lower price. The way you explained it, it seems you believe other computer companies are retailing the exact equivalent of a Mac, when they aren't. They can sell it for a higher price because nobody else can sell the same thing for less. The metaphor you brought up isn't accurate of the situation at all, but i appreciate the intent.

We might, but like any good business, they want to max their cost out. It's how they make so much money. You said yes, they should charge more, but they're charging that extra little bit because they can. Because people buy it. It makes them the most money, and it's what keeps them a massive company.

Hey, you can say they're overcharging, and yes I know it's expensive, but people buy it. So they keep charging that extra bit. That technique is what made them have more money than the U.S. government at one point.

Contrary to what most of the users in this thread seem to think, I doubt Trifax made the topic so you can complain about the "great injustices" you feel it throws out. This is not the topic to debate your personal beliefs. Trifax made it to share what he wants to accomplish. Despite how you may feel its what he wants to do and you should at least be mature and respect that.

And don't drag me into this little debate saying "I'm defending the company." I personally don't know enough about computers to really give two stuffs about whatever you people are arguing about.

Good luck on getting your certificate, Trifax.

Discuss, I suppose, just thought I'd share with you all for no particular reason. I know you all will bash me for this endeavor, knowing this forum's feelings towards Apple, but I'm determined to meet this goal, so I hope at least some of you can respect that despite your "hatred" of Apple.

This is good discussion and all, but keep it at discussion. This is no place for a serious debate on Apple vs. Microsoft. Although Sheath is correct in saying that Microsoft is common to sell their product out to other companies. It's how they do business, so the difference being, Apple's hardware is assembled from within Apple's corporation, to best fit the OS that was designed for it.

I would suggest you stop arguing about the price, because there really isn't a huge difference. A high-end PC costs about as much as a Mac, because Mac's are high-end computers that come cleanly designed, running smoothly, and pre-installed with most of the software you would need.

I do recognize that Apple is sometimes deceiving. Basically every company is deceiving, so that's no surprise, but the reason I go with Apple is because I started computing on a Mac, I have a knowledge of the Mac/Apple devices, and I want to get a deeper understanding of their products. Getting Apple certified doesn't NECESSARILY mean I need to go work at Apple, although that's what I would like to do. Getting Apple certified just means you are authorized to handle Macs in the way the Apple Genius's do, and you can do it from external companies that perhaps resell Apple products or something.

This whole thing made me giggle. Apple is a company and pretty much all companies are deceiving, especially when you try to sell me about 600 dollars worth of hardware for close to 3 grand. Also you really think any repair service like geek squad or that apple stuff doesn't push their unneeded services to the masses

You have a point, but I didn't exactly mean for this thread to turn into another "cost of products" battle. We have plenty of those, and it's really not needed. But you do have a point about service. Of course they push it, every company wants to push their services out to the masses. And it's hardly unneeded for people who aren't too knowledgeable with technology. Just because you happen to know a thing or two about technology, and can service yourself, doesn't mean there aren't loads of people that don't know stuff. That's why it's there.
