Off Topic / Re: I want to get Apple Certified.

So you want a certificate in deceiving advertising and taking advantage of people who don't know much?

No, I want to be certified to fix apple hardware in the real world, and not just part time at a school. I don't take advantage of people, I give them the straight facts and troubleshoot as efficiently as I can.

Being an Apple Genius has nothing to do with how they advertise. Not to mention Apple is far from deceiving when you look at some other companies out there. Lots of companies straight up rip people off because they don't know any better, but I don't believe Apple has a reputation for being one of those companies.

And I think you're supposed to be 18 to get certified, but I'm going to try to do it before then. I can use it for my culminating project. I'm already working in a tech specialist department, and looking at the job description for Apple Genius, I pretty much fit the bill exactly. I'm just too young.

So if I can get certified before I graduate high school, I'll be all set to apply for a job as a Genius, go through the training, and be working at Apple in California before I start college.

Discuss, I suppose, just thought I'd share with you all for no particular reason. I know you all will bash me for this endeavor, knowing this forum's feelings towards Apple, but I'm determined to meet this goal, so I hope at least some of you can respect that despite your "hatred" of Apple.

Our school used to get those donuts! Well, our elementary school did, on special days. I remember those guys, they were delicious, even if they were tribal.

1. If you build your computer, most likely nothing will go wrong.

2. You're overpaying to save yourself 2 hours of figuring out how Windows works. Financial decisions aren't your strong point.

3. Apple does not manufacture it's own hardware.

1. I'm not building my own laptop.

2. I'm also paying for software. You forget that PC comes with jack-stuff in the way of software, and I actually use the stuff in iLife, which is part of the cost. That, and cost isn't really an issue, even though what I just mentioned is only a small part of the cost.

I really don't think anything justifies the extra 600 dollars for that laptop on top of a normal laptop thats the same specs

I must say, it's a plus that the hardware manufacturer is also the software manufacturer. Everything works very fluidly.

Also, I have a far deeper knowledge of Mac than I do of PC, so I can pretty much do everything I need to do fluidly out of the box. I wouldn't have to learn the little corners of a PC that common PC users know already. It's just more convenient for me, and I know for sure I'm getting a good computer from Apple. And if I don't, their support is awesome and will fix it. They always have. However, lots of my friends have consistent issues with their support because whatever company (HP, Dell, whatever) aren't exactly the best at customer service.

Update, after talking to my dad, apparently he's willing to buy the laptop. But he would prefer me not to touch my savings, which is basically where all my money is. I have 75 bucks in not savings (checking, I guess).

So that's awesome. I'll keep you all posted on if he ends up offering to buy the computer.

buy the drumset then get a cheaper computer is what i would go for. i love mac and all, i have a 7 year old macbook pro and it runs like a dream, the only thing i would recommend is getting a windows computer for college. reason being most academic networks use windows, and hooking up a mac to a windows network is a total bitch to do unless you have emulators, in which case why have a mac.

I'm not getting a PC. I know how to work one and all, and i already work with them at my high school, but I know mac best. It won't be an issue. The macbook is my choice. Good reason though, I get what you're saying.
