Games / Fallout Thread - Fallout 4 Release Date?
« on: June 12, 2013, 12:18:02 AM »
This has been tried multiple times, I'm aware, but it's time for try number [reference]42.[/reference]
The OP will focus on the most recent and future titles.

"Fallout is a series of post-apocalyptic role-playing video games created by Interplay Entertainment. Although the series is set during the 22nd and 23rd centuries, its retrofuturistic story and artwork are influenced by the post-war culture of 1950s America, and its combination of hope for the promises of technology and lurking fear of nuclear annihilation."

The S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system is your character's defining characteristics. It can influence some conversation, effect skills, effect your critical hit chance, and random occurrence. Each primary statistic starts at 5, then you adjust it according to your play style. Each primary statistic cannot go below 1, or above 10, regardless of in game bonuses.

Skills: All
Yes, all skills! In New Vegas, Luck effects the skills like this:
Luck of 1 or 2    =   +1 all skills
Luck of 3 or 4    =   +2 all skills
Luck of 5 or 6    =   +3 all skills
Luck of 7 or 8    =   +4 all skills
Luck of 9 or 10  =   +5 all skills

Combat System
Fallout 1 and 2 uses a turn based system, Fallout 3 and New Vegas use a real-time combat system.
In 3 and New Vegas exists V.A.T.S., or Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System.
V.A.T.S. is a queuing system. When in combat, hit "V" to activate it. Time slows down dramatically, and allows you to select different limbs to aim for. It shows the chance you have to it each limb.
V.A.T.S. provides a 5% increase in critical hits, but requires Action Points (AP) to use. When in V.A.T.S., you only take 75% of the damage received.
In Fallout 3, V.A.T.S. was significantly better. 15% critical hit, and only 10% of the damage was received. New Vegas nerfed it, however.
Karma System
Karma is the reflection of all actions you've made, both good and bad. The stronger your action is, the more karma points you receive.
Your karma points aren't reflected as numbers. It's just a simple "Good", "Neutral", "Bad" system.
Karma effects what people think of you, and how they respond to you. Some followers require you have a specific Karma level to join you in the Wasteland.
Vaults
Vaults are essentially huge-ass bomb shelters. There were 122 built by Vault-Tec. They can hold 1,000 dwellers in each Vault. The purpose was supposedly to protect citizens, but it was more of a secret Government project, they never actually expected a nuclear war to happen when they built them. Each Vault conducts a different social experiment. You can learn more about each by exploring them in-game. A majority are abandoned, and filled with hostile creatures, crazy dwellers, and hell, even a haunted vault, because you haven't stuff your pants enough yet.
Vaults are protected by giant air-sealed doors. All vaults are maintained and ruled by an Overseer.
PIP-Boy
The PIP-Boy, or Personal Information Processor, is an electronic device developed by RobCo, which goes on your left arm. These where standard issue, and distributed to all Vault-Dwellers. Some received a newer model model than others. They can only be released from the arm by the user, or a skilled technician. PIP-Boys display your health, limb condition, and radiation levels. It's where you equip items, look at the local and global map, and review data received for quests.

Creativity / Need Ideas With A Song
« on: February 21, 2013, 07:38:05 PM »
Me and my girlfriend were flipping around ideas for composing a song the other day, and she mentioned a song having to do with the Hundred Years' Year, where it will be mostly a duet between a French Horn and an English Horn.
I got bored today and started messing around with it, and I'm at a stand still. After the first big hit, I can't think of what to do with it next. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Very very very rough first draft

Any tips on any existing parts would be appreciated as well. I've yet to write the percussion part in, because forget percussionists.

Off Topic / So, All My stuff Is Getting "Hacked"

/title

Someone has already been on my youtube account, and attempted to gain access to my gmail. I don't recall going anywhere fishy or downloading some stupid suspicious stuff.
Also, being the idiot I am all my passwords are the same, so it's probably only a matter of time until this person figures that out. Also:

Yeah, I have no idea what's going on.

Off Topic / Need Poem Title
« on: December 21, 2011, 04:16:55 PM »
I'm horrible at poems, so I created a poem about a present.  I think it's good (for my standards) it just lacks a title.  I'm bad at making titles, so I could use some help.

Also, any suggestions to further improve the poem would be helpful.  Thanks.

The Poem:

Code: [Select]
You sit there, patiently waiting
Beautiful, and mysterious
A radiance of bright red,
and your perfect, green silk bow

Heavy and vast
A coating of mystery
Covers you like a blanket,
Like you're trying to hide

Colored lights reflecting off you,
With a wonderful brilliance
I just stand in awe,
Something about you is mystifying

You're square, but more than that
You're anything imaginable
You read my mind, you know my desires
You never guess wrong

The color, now poured on the floor
The green bow teared up,
Your beauty, gone
Yet you come back next year

Off Topic / Windows 7: Constant Blue Screen
« on: June 26, 2011, 10:55:11 PM »
I was out, enjoying the beach, and came home.
I was on my computer earlier playing Fancy Pants 2.  When I  lifted the lid up, it was a black screen, and replaying the same audio.  After waiting awhile,
I turned it off, and turned it back on.  I started it up again, and after 5 minutes I get a blue screen.  I did this again, 5 minutes, blue screen.  I'm in safe mode right now, any idea what's going on?

Off Topic / The Infamous Fake Anti-Virus, Virus
« on: June 23, 2011, 02:17:36 PM »
Just randomly popped up on my computer now.  It tries running scans, and I keep stopping it.  It doesn't seem to do much except randomly pop up in the bottom right of my screen every 2 seconds saying Avast.exe is infected.  It's also trying to imitate official Windows messages.  They did a good job in that, but I'm not falling for it.

forget you MS Removal Tool, and the messed up dipstuffs that made it.
I'm running a full scan on Avast, would that be enough?

Off Topic / $30, What To Buy?
« on: June 21, 2011, 01:27:58 AM »
I woke up this morning, came down stairs, and my mom randomly gives me 30 bucks.

I want to buy something that will keep me entertained for awhile, and I don't know what to get.
Any suggestions?  I don't really want to save it.

Off Topic / Internet Browser Crashing
« on: June 18, 2011, 11:10:22 PM »
It started when Internet explorer wouldn't respond, and wouldn't close.
No big, right?  Just go and open Fire Fox.
"FIRE FOX HAS STOPPED RESPONDING"
I tried closing it, and it wouldn't close.
I opened up Task Manager manager to end the prossece*Pardon Spelling*, and it wouldn't close.
I shut down the computer, and restarted it.  I opened Internet Explorer, and it immediatly says it Can't Respond, and closes it.  Same with Firefox.  The only way I can currently browse the internet is in safe mode.

What do.

This guy is basically mass producing wall hacks to players of CoD4, ruining the best Call Of Duty ever.  I'm lucky if I hit a CoD 4 lobby that isn't like this now.  It's sad to see one of my first FPS's destroyed.

Off Topic / A lovely Conversation with my Ex
« on: May 01, 2011, 10:45:46 PM »
There was this rumor going around, that I liked my ex-boyfriendgirlfriend still.

Here is the conversation I had with here:(This was through texting, so I made it readable).
Quote
Me: Hey, can I ask you a question?

Ex: Who dis?  - (She always has my number, I know she's bullstuffting me here).

Me: It's pretty obvious...

Ex: Sorry I don't know who you is.

Me: Yes you do.

Ex: No honestly I don't I think you got the wrong number.

Me: [name censored] stop yo lyin'.

Ex: =0 how do you know my name? Noah im sorry but got the wrong number.
Yeah, you don't know who I am.

Me: I checked [friends name]'s phone, it's you, [name censored].

Ex: So you want answer?

Me: Yea.

Ex: Well I wana know who this is first.

Me: You already figured it out smart one.

Ex: No I didn't.

Me: Oh my goodness..

Ex: haha XD sorry I do know who this is.
(I misread read [I do know] as [I don't know], which explains why I say this:
Me: Forget it

(This is exactly how she texted the following, it made my brain malfunction).

Ex: I heard frm greg who heard frm everybody else tht ur piss ass was bitchin ova mew. - (Please, someone translate this.  If it helps, "greg" loves instigating fights, pretends he's tough, then backs out of fights at the last second.)

Me: Um, vat?

Ex: vew heard mew.

Me: Please speak in a way I can understand, and you don't sound like a handicapped person. - (Yes, I didn't think this one through, I shouldn't have said this).

Ex: How do you know?

Me: What?

Ex: That I'm not a handicap? You don't give two stuffs for me. Just dating me 'cause you feel bad. Yeah, I know everything.

Me: So you figured out my plot, huh?  It was all perfect, I was gonna get away with it, too.  You just had to dig deeper, and deeper.  So let me ask you, who told you? - (I figured she was a lost case, and decided to mess around with her until she went away.)

Ex: No one told me I know every effin thing. By the way I only dated you to see if this guy I liked, liked me and once I found out he did I wanted to break up with you. Looks like we both had reasons. - (Jealous much? She cried in my arms when she heard a rumor I wanted to break up with her.  I believe, you, I totally do.)

Me: Of course!  I should have expected it!  The only outcome, goes hand-in-hand with an amazing plot!  Why was I so blind! - (I read these two texts I sent in a detective voice, cause it's cool).

Ex: Any way yea, I don't give a stuff about you mmkay? your cutting into my movie so bu-bye motha forgetkaaa.

Life is a bitch, sometimes, you have to deal with one. ='(

Off Topic / Areas With High Llama Population?
« on: March 12, 2011, 11:28:59 PM »
Yes, you read the title right.  :cookieMonster:

I need to know the area with the highest llama population.  Google has been of absolutely no help.  Instead, I get these sites that tell me about llamas, none tell me of the population.  I've been at this for probably half an hour now, and I'm on the verge of giving up.

Off Topic / Descent Gaming Laptop?
« on: March 07, 2011, 09:24:29 PM »
I'm a man that prefers laptops over desktops, primarily because of mobility.

I got this crappy laptop as a gift not too long ago.  This one: stuffty G56 141US Laptop

I'm going to sell my Xbox, because I've tried gaming on a computer, I personally like the experience more. So I want to save up for a better laptop.  I've looked at a couple, but I know nothing about computers other than what a graphics card is, so I'm asking you guys to judge between these two laptops for me.

Asus Laptop

Toshiba Laptop

Sorry for my ignorance.

Off Topic / Hey, I'm New
« on: February 24, 2011, 07:57:19 PM »
I'm new, if you can't tell.  My friend told me about this game, and said he doesn't play it anymore, and asked if I wanted to buy his ID off him.  We are doing the trade tomorrow, can't wait.  He gave me a link to the forum, and told me to be a complete richard to all of you.  I don't think that will happen.

So, I've been playing the demo, and it's been fun.  There's tons of add-ons in that one section, so I bet there's a lot of cool servers out there.  I was just looking at some pages through add-ons, and found some cool ones.  I think Tactical Knife weapon by Rykuta looks cool.

Also, for those who wonder my age, I'm 14 in 8th grade.
