You're throwing money away by "upgrading" from something stuffty to something less stuffty.
To put it in simple terms, it's like throwing away a really flat basketball, and buying a basketball that's only slightly less flat than the previous one, making nearly no difference.

Also, This Keyboard is on sale, original price $150, currently $80. Has blue switches though, which are known for being loud, not sure if that's a turn off for you or not.

Just a quick explanation:
This is a ghosting test. Ghosting is a problem some keyboards face, where certain combinations of keys don't all register at the same time.
Holding both shifts then typing a pangram (a sentence that has all letters of the alphabet), you can find ghosting problems on you keyboard. IF you have ghosting problems it doesn't mean your keyboard is bad, more so that it isn't 100% anti-ghosting, which is never needed anywhere on the face of the Earth ever. (Other than for e-peen).

He should find the switches that he likes the most, however.
Blue switches have a loud tactile bump, and I think they're pretty much the loudest of all the switches, and give a satisfying click.
Red Switches are smooth and have no bump, providing a quiet and fluid response.
I don't know much about other switches.
