I want to edit Xalo's Elevator Add-On to be able to have more than 6 static shapes in the elevator however I don't know.

Which keyboard layout do you like the most on Blockland to build? Using the numpad (Standard) or IJKL (Laptop). I started playing Blockland on a Laptop so I grew accustomed to the laptop layout (IJKL is very similar to WASD, however you use ; and . to go up and down, I like the controls this way).

I have been saying lately how a trailer must need to be made, however I wont be making a trailer (I suck at trailers). Instead I will be making another physics video (bricks and possibly vehicles). I know we have a bunch of these already but I don't think we have a recent one (post-shader update). I am hoping this video will be up on the Blockland greenlight page. If you have any recommendations or saves you want me to feature please post so I can add them! I would want the video to be maybe 2 minutes long.

Post song suggestions also please!

I was looking at the screenshots on Blockland from pre-V21 and I noticed this brick sort of "mirrors" other bricks. How was this done?

Im sorry to be raging/thrashing/dramaing about this but I am just fed up with the limitations caused by the engine or by what Badspot sets. So as we all know Blockland is a Sandbox game...a game where you can do whatever you want and where your imagination is basically your only limit (biggest lie in the world).

  • We can't have more than 20 stinking vehicles..this isn't a lot Badspot (this limits racing servers to only 20 players)
  • We have handicapped vehicle and sometimes brick physics, baseplates/bricks stay floating in the air after the rest of the bricks supporting them have been fakekilled/blown up. As for vehicle physics...hell...everyone knows whats wrong with this, there's no point in trying to fortify your base/fort from incoming attackers because guess what, they can just a drive a car through it, nifty isnt it? You can also fly off into space like Team Rocket simply by hitting a brick a certain way.
  • We probably have the slowest moving projectiles in the entire gaming world, so much for making a fast paced FPS server when the game can't even keep up with your sensitivity or high DPI
  • (this one is a shocker) We have a static shape limit too, apparently I can't add more than 6 static shapes in my elevator (Xalo's Elevator addon, is this a limit he set?)
  • Im not really sure about this one either but I remember a while ago there was some kind of limit that explosions could not be spawned on multiplayer servers or if they can there is a very limited amount as to how many can be (is this why the C4 uses the rocket launcher projectile rather than an actual explosion?)
  • We have a Datablock limit (werent expecting this one were you?) You can reach the limit just by downloading the T+T Pack, Frog's Weaponry and then maybe a couple more add-ons or Music files.
  • Transparency with bricks, you can't see the water texture when looking through a transparent brick.
  • handicapped purple color spots on water.
Right now these are probably the 6 (or 5) biggest limits that are pissing me off, yes only five maybe but they are rather large. There are probably a bunch more limitations in this game but I just can't think of anything right now because I am so fed up with there being some handicapped limitation to everything I want to build. The limit in this game is the game itself, not your imagination (I know that's not our motto or whatever but that's the idea of a Sandbox game). Imagine if we could just have the necessary limitations raised such as, the Datablock limit, vehicles, and faster projectiles. Am I expecting too much? I don't think so, a sandbox game should DEFINITELY be able to have more than 20 physics vehicles and have a MUCH larger Datablock limit (especially when the game is centered around add-ons).

Does this one still work? I put it in my Blockland directory and it doesn't show up in the addon list.

Edit: it works, the addon should be updated, it requires a .txt file called namecheck.

Off Topic / What would you do if Badspot had to have an operation?

Kind of a weird thing to think of, but lets say Badspot was diagnosed with something (hope this never happens) or something happens and he needs an operation/surgery but he was low on money. Would you guys donate to help him out?

General Discussion / What do guys think the next update will be?

Looking at the update releases, it seems that we get some type of update once a month and its more less in the middle or close to the end of the month. I'm not sure if Badspot has any plans for any updates (what else can you add in the game...it's kind of hard to think about IMO) but if he does what do you guys think it could be?

What I WOULD LIKE:
1. Anti-Aliasing option in the "Advanced" tab in the Options Menu. (AMD/ATI graphics card users need to use a 3rd party program in order to force AA on certain games...AMD has the feature for it in their graphics settings but it doesnt work.)
2. Physics Overhaul (Vehicle physics and also brick physics - meaning if you explode the bottom part of the house the top/roof will be floating, they should get fakekilled.
3. Fix the weird purple lines in Water (How do you release shaders with this...seriously?)
4. Able to see Water texture from a transparent block (Again...how do you release this?)
5. Avatar customization, more Hat items and maybe torso decals
6. Easier way to have ambient sounds (some type of brick or minigame setting that plays low to everywhere and everyone)
7. Walking sound effects on bricks and ModTerrain.

We should have a couple of these new features before we reah Greenligjt because well...that's our first impression and if we add these updates after most of the people won't know there were updates and think Blockland is still the same.

Modification Help / What type of add-on limits are there?

Im curious as to the type or amount of limits there are in Blockland (not the one's everyone knows and hates but different ones). Is there a limit to how fast a bullet can shoot, how many bullets can shoot out per click? Is there a limit to a speed of a vehicle or how many mounting points it can have?

I also have a question that doesn't really fit this at all but what kind of stuff can you script in Blockland? Could you script the same things you could do with events, could you also create like a certain mini-game or something where players can get teleported into another room after a round ends or something?

General Discussion / Is it possible to have items with lights?

I want to know if it is possible to actually create something like a flash light. Can you put a lightsource on a .DTS object and then actually have it emitting light or Blockland doesn't let you do that?

If you don't understand what I mean I am talking about ALL (or just the rain) particles not being able to go through bricks, some of us may not want this but I do know that everyone does want the rain emitters/particles to not go through bricks. I do remember that Badspot said something like how this would take out/cost a lot of performance however I don't remember when he said that. I am hoping with the removal of terrains maybe there is room for it?

I love the default rain skybox Blockland comes with but having rain going through your builds ruins the whole effect of feeling safe indoors.

Roblox's Lighting looks really good, except I am not sure if it this is in a modeling program or in their engine. The reason as to why I dont think its in their engine is because Roblox has an FPS cap of 60FPS (network issue, confirmed by Shedletsky) and when zooming out everything looks extremely smooth (on top of that they are recording, which again impacts FPS)

(Im sort of annoyed at Badspot/Kompressor now at the lighting we have)

Yeah das right mosacras I am back, and I bringing more of that Roblox (if you haven't noticed yet, I don't play the game, I get all of my info from the blog and I am just writing down what I see/think here, I have a friend that plays it which is how I learn about things). Anyways, it seems that Roblox is very close to releasing their lighting and as much as I am jelly about this it looks pretty cool. About it
So judging from the videos I don't think they have any lightsources that create/cast "shadows" besides the sun, similar to Blockland's style of lighting. If you look at the videos the player shadow doesn't seem to be casted in the correct area for when there is light source (again proposing that only the sun or maybe moon can simulate casting shadows). I think they have both of the lighting effects/engines, whatever they are, implemented into the game (the map lighting/roblox's old lighting for the player shadow and then their new lighting which actually emits light, im probably wrong on this).

These are what their shadows look like (the image being uploaded to another sight lowerd down the quality, the quality of the shadows look worse in this image than what it actually is).



Weird things
The feature is still in beta so maybe they are fixing these things but I have noticed that the player has a shadow even if the player is behind something that is in front of the lightsource (in this case a room. the same goes for some bricks also). Another thing I noticed is that, well the lighting doesn't really seem to match with some of their shadows, for this one these two bricks don't have hadows, the yellow brick also doesn't cast a shadow, neither is the bomb ball or mesh item (im guessing lighting effects wont work on any mesh objects, it seems that roblox always has a problem with meshes, they can't detect their collision boxes and now this). However the other bricks do have shadows (I am really guessing this is just a bug).


So those were my opinions on this, share yours and what you think.

General Discussion / We need some more "gamemode" trailers

Just a quick suggestion and I will try to make a video myself as I will be able to record soon, but basically we should create short videos showing off servers/gamemodes, very similar to how Filipe made his Speedkart gamemode. Why you ask? Well I really want BL to get on greenlight and we need to show off more gameplay, the best way is by video. Badspot will most likely add these videos to the greenlight page like he did with Filipe's Speedkart.


A couple of ideas for trailers
Murder Mystery
Jail RP
Freebuild/Community Build/City RP (this is a big one since BL is about building)
Heed's TDM (another big one)
