Suggestions & Requests / Whitelist instead of just password?

Instead of only having a password lock on servers could we have a Whitelist option?

A notepad file will be created in config/server/whitelist (wherever the Server directory is), we can fill in the BLIDs we want to allow in a list going down similar to how it's done in Minecraft. When we finish that there will be an option before you start a gamemode that says "Whitelist" and it has the circle button. Additionally Badspot could maybe add something where only the host has the commands /whitelist to see who is whitelisted and /whitelist add and /whitelist remove to add/remove people ingame.

I see this a much better way for servers to be kept private on private builds or anything else, friends do not have to constantly type in a password and its more secure because other people can't give out a password to someone else because there is none.

General Discussion / Is Blockland maybe just unattractive?

I've sort of come to the conclusion that maybe Blockland just isn't a game that everyone is fascinated in, for example, Perennial hits greenlight a couple months or so ago and it's growing in popularity, a bunch of people have uploaded Let's Plays already. Blockland hits greeblnlight and I don't really see much of a community growth or increase of videos in popularity, Blockland has been out longer so maybe the videos about it now have too many views for newer videos to come out. I've just noticed this now and this is just my opinion, I personally love the game and LEGO fans would probably like it a lot also.

THAT'S RIGHT FOLKS (HOW-TO)
Yeah I am taking this as a joke but I just discovered how to mount yourself backwards and sideways, this is a glitch. To do this have Blockland in fullscreen (not sure if this works without fullscreen but I had fullscreen enabled) and then prepare to jump in the kart, while you are in mid air Alt Tab out of Blockland and then go back in, the screen will be black for a while and Blockland may take a couple of seconds to load, during this time move your mouse around but you don't need to click or anything. When Blockland loads you should find yourself sideways or backwards, if you find yourself forward you may have just moved your mouse enough that put you in the normal/correct position.

I have never really seen these except for Pecon7's Boss Battles but is it possible/hard to make a GUI that gives weapons to player for a server? The way Pecon7's Boss Battles GUI works is that you need to download it, is there a way to make a GUI that would show up to all players when they join the server without having to download an addon just to see the GUI? Could the GUIs also give users weapons or let them spawn in certain areas? I am just wondering if these things are possible or very difficult to do as I have never seen a server with one (besides Pecon's).

Edit: Basically Ive just been having problems with my friend the coder who just...its complicated.

Not sure if you have guys have noticed yet but Valve or their automated selection thingy didnt greenlight any games Friday. Whats up wit this? I read they are thinking of removing Greenlight so have they stopped it already?

General Discussion / "Promod" Add-On for Blockland

If you guys don't know what ProMod is its a mod on CoD4, its very similar to the normal gameplay of it rather its S&D and it involves mainly a lot of jumping around such as jump shots and hiding behind small walls you can peak out from, it is also VERY fast paced. This mod is basically what makes CoD4 still playable and enjoyable, as almost half of the servers run this mod.

Main

There are two teams and the max score limit is something like 20 or 24, meaning one team can have a score of 12 and the other team can have 8 and the team with 12 would win.
The teams start with a 5 second "strat" time. The word "strat" stands for strategy and is basically where players can decide what side of the map go to on before the game actually starts.
Each round lasts about 2min

Classes

Assault - AK47and a Desert Eagle
Spec Ops - AK74uGun and a M1911
Demolition - Shotgun and a Desert Eagle
Sniper - M40A3 (bolt action) and a Desert Eagle (Only two people can pick the Sniper class)

Key Things that are a MUST!

Being able to throw grenades across the map
GUIs for Score and an indicator of how many players are on each time
A method via print bricks or something else that gives hints to where the bomb sites are.

I would really want something like this made into Blockland. It would be a big addon that has its own gun set, the guns should be really fast, something like a hit scan (that fast), a different playertype, one that doesn't have acceleration when walking or jumping (simple quick jump), proning will be toggable and quick.

General Discussion / President's Day Sale?

It would be neat if we could have a President's day sale, something like 50% or 75% off. I already have two/three friends who are looking into buying Blockland, if it went down in price to $10 or even $5 they would definitely buy it. I know this is probably something big for Badspot to do since Blockland may be one of his main methods of getting money but maybe for a day he can put it on sale.

General Discussion / Any way to "rip" the /nextTrack script?

Anyway we can get the script or is it put into the game files itself or something like that? If we could we could have rename it to /nextMap and eventually someone could even make events for it. This will be really useful in an FPS server as map rotation is sort of a biggy in my opinion. My friend and I could make some maps maye 3 for now and badda bing we have a nice TDM with rotating maps so it doesn't always get boring.

Blockland is probably at its closest to being greenlit on steam, it may be this month or it may be next month. Small bugs will be categorized "Small Bugs" and bigger bugs that are harder to fix wil be "Large Bugs". I will add everyone's bug report to the OP.

Small Bugs

1. After joining a server and "Downloading Sounds" Blockland has to be completely restarted in order for you to hear the sounds on a server.
2. If you check "Download Music" AND "Download Sounds" in the Network tab you need to restart Blockland in order to hear both Music and Sounds.
3. Rampage gamemode does not load the first build up on starting the gamemode. Even after it still won't load the save.

General Discussion / Blockland's Current Engine vs Newer Engine

I know you guys hate these topics, I am not proposing the engine should be changed as Blockland's engine as of now is pretty damn good and lovey if it can support Shaders, at least IMO. I just have a couple of questions between the engine we are on now and latest Torque3d engine.


1. What engine are we on? Are we on 1.3, 1.2? People have said Blockland has been modified so much it is its own engine, what's that?

2. Would the Torque 3D engine allow more lights to be rendered/visible (we can have 7 right now I believe)

3. Would we have a larger brick limit (I know brick limit has to do with packets, but is there a max brickcount that the engine itself can handle or no?)

4. Larger Datablock limit?

5. Have more detailed weapons/DTS models?

6. 64bit support/more use of cores? This is extra and isn't really needed but I am just wondering.

I think those are all of my questions for now, I am hoping someone expierenced with torque or game engines can answer my questions. I have a final one actually and it's how does "porting a game" work? Do you just open the file from the old engine and import it into a new engine or do you to start from scratch?

Sorry about posting about Roblox again if it really bothers you I really am sorry. There just isnt anything else for me to post in the Off-Topic section so I might as well post this and enjoy reading your reactions/thoughts. My friend just showed me this and it Roblox is getting dynamic lighting now also, its really a beta version though and things may change. One thing I noticed is that it seems that Roblox isn't able to pull off having shadows casted as they were planning to do in one of their tech demos last year.
