If anything, vehicles wouldn't be removed heh.
Vehicles are pretty much essential for most sandboxes.
How did the rumor of vehicles being removed surface?

...I can imagine how weird it would look if Blockland was run on something like Source, CryEngine, or even the Unity eng-

No, scratch the changing engine thing, probably is best to improve as much as possible the Blockland Torque engine, and we will just need to wait to see what happens in the future.
I hate it when people say this. Just because a game such as Crysis or Half Life uses the Cry or Source engine doesn't mean every single game will look the same. Stop being stupid and realize that you can customize textures/graphics, whatever in a game engine. Look at TF2 and Half Life, they are both running Source but look different. Blockland on another engine would look the same, the only thing you would notice is performance.

By the way, if an engine change would happen we should hope for it to be Torque3D, because it is infact still Torque and uses TorqueScript, the majority of addons would still work, this way we would have an upgraded engine and many old things would still be compatible. However, if the point of changing the engine is to have superb/complete performance then something rather than Torque3D would be picked, however addons would need to be re-made from scratch. Remember that addons are what keep this game alive.

If the ext4 file system I use on Linux is causing this, that would be sad.. maybe I should've made my partition use FAT or maybe NTFS.
Noo, its probably just Wine. Ext, and ext4 being the latest, is the native file system for linux. Ext4 offers the best performance for linux, some people run into glitches/problems when on NTFS (idk about FAT32). Also, I believe with ext4 defragging is not an issue.

Help / Re: When i play blockland my PC shuts down!
« on: August 13, 2013, 05:20:18 PM »
The reason is probably your computer overheating. Most computers shut down themselves whey they overheat. Try getting a new radiator or more fans.
Or better yet make sure the CPU or GPU fan (most of the time it's GPU) is working.

Well we can't help you now until you replace your CPU no? Are you positive it's your CPU?

What the hell is Moonstar's problem? All I've been seeing are quotes of him ranting about how Blockland is a failure or is leading up to be the last couple of days. If you don't like the game just leave already, we obviously don't agree with you 100% because we are still here playing so stop trying to force your opinion on us.

Drama / Re: I found another hacker!
« on: August 13, 2013, 11:17:51 AM »
Should be in Drama.
How does this belong in Drama? Seriously, whenever someone posts anything about someone else all I see is "this belongs in drama". This is why the General Discussion has the least amount of posts, there are too many specific boards and then people want to move things to those boards when it's not even necessary. This is about Blockland, (he even has a screenshot of a building server) and it just happens to contain someone exploiting in Blockland (he's not ranting over him, simply giving awareness). Also, if you haven't noticed yet the Drama forum is in the OffTopic category....this doesn't seem like this is off topic to me.

I honestly just think there isn't enough to do in this game, meaning the amount of servers available. Sure there are a lot of servers up but is there variety, and for how long? Whenever there is a new gamemode idea that comes out (rising lava, murder mystery, even TDMs) its very popular and the server is highy populated too, but after a week, maybe even a few days, the server just disappears and may end up appearing again sometime but the majority never come back on.

I think it's just the playerbase that is lazy (that or community doesn't spend money on BL servers like the MC community does). Nobody wants to spend time building things such as maps for other gamemodes or even setting up/configuring a server with a specific gamemode  (myself included I won't lie, for the building part at least).

Off Topic / Re: Linux Megathread - Elementary OS IS UP AND LIVE
« on: August 12, 2013, 07:15:13 PM »
You should add Manjaro as a derivative of Arch.

You also need to seperate the other distros from "Variants of ubuntu" it looks like you marked OpenSUSE, Fedora etc as variants of ubuntu when they arent. If you put Xubuntu you might as well also add Lubuntu and Kubuntu. Also, this is my second edit, you really suck at creating descriptions for distors, As for the description of linux itself, its not an OS. Linux is just the kernel and then there are free operting systems that use it as a base known as GNU/Linux.

My desktop on Manjaro linux (arch based). I am still looking for themes to configure the top panel...Im not a big fan of it just being black but its pretty okay for now. My desktop is pretty much vanilla from Manjaro.

forget Torque. I don't want torque at all. This engine blows. I want this game to be built on a better engine. Torque feels way too outdated to me.

And no, not really. I don't think there'd be more gamemodes at all, but I'm sure as hell convinced that they'd be a lot better with all the possibilities programmers would have to screw around with a new engine that was more flexible.

Lol yeah, CryEngine would be a sight to see for a game like Blockland.
I remember asking around though and the many limits that we have are from packets/Internet related. The vehicle limit, brick limit, are all Internet related. I don't know for sure how packets work, wether or not you can just make the packets bigger etc. The other things such as physics (vehicle, bricks and also players, - although bricks have pretty nice physics) are engine related I believe. The one thing I wish would be improved for brick physics is that if you blow up a building or something on the bottom part the rest of the top that doesn't have support should fall like getting fakekilled.

You save 2 cents, imagine what you can do with those 2 cents!
Nothing. Tolls going into NY (or a bridge to go there, I cant remember) even ask for you to not use pennies, like wtf it's still currency. Lazy ass people.

And with Torque3d you expect more gamemodes?
I don't think he ever spoke specifically of Torque3D or any torque engine, maybe that's what he was thinking of but he could've been thinking something like the CryEngine. (Lol imagine the performance for a game like Blockland)
