Suggestions & Requests / Leeching Magic
« on: August 08, 2011, 04:56:35 PM »
The idea of this is for it to be an item similar to the magics in the magic weapon pack that was released a good while ago. This would probably look a lot like darkness magic.
Basically what it would do, as you probably guessed from the title, is it would sap the target's health and give it to you.
However, it would work quickly and death would be unavoidable unless the magic is interrupted by someone damaging the user. If possible, everything that hit the user would do extra damage.

I may attempt to make this myself but I will probably did fail horribly, seeing as I have absolutely no experience using schedules.

Modification Help / Player_AquaTrooper
« on: August 08, 2011, 07:39:55 AM »
It came to my attention that there wasn't any player that went at a reasonable speed underwater. I tried to make a quick little playertype, with the following script.

datablock PlayerData(PlayerAquaTrooperArmor : PlayerStandardArmor)
{

   maxUnderwaterBackwardSpeed = 10;
   maxUnderwaterForwardSpeed = 10;

   canJet = 0;

   uiName = "Aqua Trooper Player";
   showEnergyBar = false;
};

Well, when I tried this, it didn't work. I believe that the reason for this is that the player has to crouch underwater, and the crouch speed would have to be increased. Unfortunately, it would also work on land, so I need to try a new tack.

The new playertype would use the trigger onEnterLiquid to change the datablock of the player to one with jets. Then, with onLeaveLiquid, it would change the datablock back again. This would make it so that the player could go faster underwater if they wanted.
The only problem is that I have no idea how to do this.
I think it would need to use onEnterLiquid and onLeaveLiquid and use their parent function stuff, but add a little more as well. I don't know where to get the parent stuff, and so I can't continue.

Modification Help / C# and .cs
« on: August 07, 2011, 02:23:19 PM »
So I downloaded C# a while ago, or rather, a program downloaded it, in order to allow me to run a game that I had created at a camp. However, instead of doing anything intelligent, it downloaded every single version of C# that it could onto my computer. Now, since this is a stupid computer, I can't open .cs files normally with notepad. I have to open notepad, manually change the address to inside of a zip folder if necessary, and then open it. Help.

Creativity / Monowheel Stabilization
« on: August 06, 2011, 10:52:55 AM »
This is a rather strange idea, for a rather strange vehicle, and a rather strange place to put it.
I hope all of you people reading this are familiar with what a monowheel is. If not, then look it up. They're awesome.
My idea is one that I had after looking into monowheels, and why they were unpopular with anyone other than crazy idiots like me. Well, there is a word for the very reason: gerbilling. This is basically what happens when you brake or accelerate too quickly on one of these feisty little beasties: the inner part of the monowheel rotates too fast for any compensation and starts going around in circles in the opposite direction of the rest of the wheel, or in the case of braking, in the exact same direction and speed as the rest of the wheel.
So.
This was a roadblock for a long time, but then I had an idea, which I think could make this all work.
You would have an inner wheel.
NOTE: this is NOT referring to the inner part of the monowheel. This would be a completely separate flywheel that is contained within the wheel assembly.
The inner wheel would be weighted to be exactly the same as the outer wheel. It would never touch anything but the gears and whatnot that would make it spin. It would also spin at the exact same speed as the outer wheel. However, it would spin in the opposite direction. This would make it so that the inner part of the monowheel would remain completely upright and steady as a rock even when you brake as suddenly as possible. If this topic should be anywhere else, I don't know where, but the Blockland forums are the place to post this, as I don't know where else to post it.
If this is a valuable idea, then I probably should not have posted it here, but people will still be able to see that I had the idea. I will also send an email to myself in order to have more proof that I came up with the idea, just in case it works.
Please do not post anything stupid in my thread until you've read the entire thing, unless this gets to be big, in which case your stupidity, if it has anything to do with not reading the whole thing, will be excused. By me.

Post, vote, give me feedback! I want the advice of the public!

Suggestions & Requests / Weapon: Multi_Umbrella
« on: August 03, 2011, 07:50:48 PM »
This is an idea that me and Sir Bricksalot concocted a few minutes ago: an umbrella with different modes.
The different modes would probably have to be accessed by some wierd stuff, like a whole set of keybinds, a gui, or holding down right click and then hitting a number or something. The different modes would be as follows:

Melee: not unfolded, simply held by the handle and used to whack people.

Rifle: not unfolded, held outwards like a gun, fires exactly like the sniper rifle.

Shield: unfolded, held outwards like a gun, blocks all projectiles that hit it, and possibly has separate collision. To avoid glitchiness, it would require a certain amount of space to unfold so that you don't get stuck in stuff.

Glider: unfolded, simply held by the handle normally. The player's jump is reduced while in this mode, but their downward and upward velocity would be regulated somehow.

Stealth: this mode I wasn't too sure about, but Sir Bricksalot thought it was awesome. Basically, you're carrying it surreptitiously and avoiding attention, but when you click, a little flourish and BAM, and you have created a neat little hole in your enemy. Note that I do NOT want to actually create a hole in the player, as I am not an idiot to that extent, and it would just high damage.

One thing that might work: whenever you press a certain key, it would immediately switch modes to the next one, or if you left out stealth mode, which I actually do kinda like, you could have glider mode and melee mode connected, and switched between using right click, but then you could switch to the other mode set with a key, possibly your light key; shield and rifle, which would also be using right click.
This is a horribly complicated and strange suggestion, and nobody will make it.

Games / League of Legends (LoL)
« on: July 31, 2011, 06:04:40 PM »
League of Legends is a free to play online fighting game. In the game, you are a summoner, and you control champions. You participate in fights in teams of one to five, in player versus player (PvP), co-op versus AI, and custom games, which can include bots and normal players in any combination.
The champions are permanently purchased using IP (influence points), or RP (Riot points, purchased with real money). IP is gained from playing games, and can also be used for buying other stuff, such as runes. RP can be used to buy all sorts of stuff, including champion skins and boosts.
Strategy is the most important part of this game, especially in PvP. You have to cooperate with your teammates and know what you're doing in order to win.
At all times, there are certain champions that are free to play, not costing anything, IP or RP. These cycle to allow players to try new champions for free.

Champions that I play as:
Veigar

An incredibly fun champion to use once you're good with him. Focusing on AP, or ability power with Veigar is very effective. He is, however, difficult to master, as I have found.

Tristana

Also a fun champion, though a little easier. She can be very effective in changing the tides of large fights, but you must be careful to keep her out of harm's way.

Teemo

Tons of fun, but often taken. He is relatively easy to master after using other champions. He is great for slowly taking enemy champions' health down and chasing after them when they run.

This is a relatively self-centered look at the game, as I don't know the game quite well enough yet to give the best overview of everything. I may add more to this topic later if anyone is interested. This is the website.

If anyone wants to meet up with me, my username is 6leggedotter.

I've wanted this for a while, just kept on forgetting.
Exactly like the butterfly knife in everything but it's model and animations.

Off Topic / Favorite Music
« on: July 19, 2011, 09:28:15 PM »
I've wondered about the musical tastes of Blocklanders.
I think that a bunch of you will probably like metal, rock, pop less so, but there are gonna be a few wierdos out there, and I am one.
I'll post the links to a few of my favorite songs, and below the links, I will specify names.
If you choose to post your favorite songs in the topic, please specify what they are below the links as well, as I will want to know what to put the volume at.

This is a song by Sting. Very good, in my opinion, with a fitting and excellent video. It's called Desert Rose.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AvkyHCU7XU
This song is by a band from Newfoundland called Great Big Sea, which most people on the forums will probably think is stupid, but I love it. This song is called Ordinary Day.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TV2Y6juYhTA&feature=related
More Great Big Sea. This is Wave Over Wave.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEn85B8vgnM
This is also Great Big Sea. Nothing But A Song. This song really resonates with me, even more than the others. It's kind of funny, really, because I don't have a brother. My sister, though, is really the equivalent, and I don't know what kind of person I would be without her guidance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELM-re3pFEI
Techno trance Pirates of the Carribean. No more need be said.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXdKlpBOvs0
Piggies!
Those who have not heard this song do not have a complete education.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YciTA18gq_E
Faster Than A Speeding Bullet, from TF2. I would get that game, but my computer sucks too much.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-OiVInVpTU
This is the first techno song that I ever liked. I love it.
I listen to it when no-one can hear it.

Suggestions & Requests / Saved Kills
« on: July 15, 2011, 06:51:29 AM »
This is merely another idea that I had, and I'm sorry if I'm the only one that wants this: saved kills.
You would be able to look in a little gui at how many total kills you have gotten so far, but not just on that server. It would be your absolute total kills; all kills you have gotten since you got the mod.
I don't know what I need to look at to do this, but I'm guessing that you would need a text document created under client that would record your kills, and some bit of code would need to be added to. I'll check in team deathmatch if there's anything there that I could use.
Of course people could change it around and such, but that's fine. Idiots and braggarts will be vice versa.
Flaming is not necessary and not appreciated.
Suggestions and concerns are appreciated.

Suggestions & Requests / Tilting player
« on: July 11, 2011, 06:35:12 AM »
OK.
So, the other night, I was sitting in bed, trying to fall asleep, when I remembered an idea that I had a little while before. I couldn't get it out of my head for at least five or ten minutes, and then eventually fell asleep.
This playertype would have to use extensive scripting; in fact, even though it seems possible to me, it might not be.
You see, the playertype would not be only a playertype, it would use a vehicle, which would be forced or toggled. Probably toggled.

The vehicle would have to allow the player, or force the player to run the running animation, so that it would still walk. It would have no wheels, no model, nothing. This would make it a vehicle rather like the skis.
The similarity to the skis allows more to happen. The player would still be able to run, and run it would, until it reached angles which it could not deal with, in which case it would fall and sustain tripping damage. It would use the jump script from the skateboard, or the abandoned bit of code, jumpforce, would be used. When the player is in midair, and probably on the ground too, the player can tilt and stuff. In midair, it could be magnified to doing flips, barrel rolls, etc. Also, this would probably lend itself to jumping off of and running up walls.
So that's that, and I hope some good scripter looks at this, because I cannot get close to doing this at my level of competence.
If anyone actually starts making this, then please contact me. I would love to test it out.

Modification Help / Possibly useful playertype
« on: July 07, 2011, 03:44:13 PM »
It just struck me at one point that a playertype that could jump the height of an 8x cube could be useful. Eventually, I got off of my lazy butt, got onto my work butt, and made this playertype. It, in addition, to balance out a little and not be idiotic looking in action, runs a little faster too.
This playertype would probably only be good for LARGE OPEN SPACES, so don't complain about running into walls and sustaining brain damage. I did test this a little, but I need feedback, and I can't get my server to work.
So, I post. http://www.mediafire.com/?37ccgjoy4e8fi76
Note to all who wish to download: I WILL be making later versions of this if any advice that is actually useful is given. HOWEVER, due to the horrible and idiotic nature of one of the computers that I use, it may end up being a while before I get around to the next update. Savvy?
So.

Oh, and on a final note, I was considering posting this in the addons section, but this is not finished. K? K.

Faces, Decals, Prints / Spider Face
« on: June 15, 2011, 07:57:23 PM »
I know it still has a smile, but the only reason it does it that it's still kind of a blockhead, and so all it's got that's different is the eyes. This is the link.
If you can't see the face properly in the pic, just click on it to enlarge it.
Also, if there is ANY ISSUE AT ALL with this face, PLEASE post something.

Modification Help / Stupid questions must be asked
« on: June 10, 2011, 06:02:34 PM »
So, I'm trying to make a weapon based off of the rocket launcher, but I cannot figure out one thing: how to "cite" the original weapon (Rocket launcher) but still change things. I know how to actually use the original weapon, thanks to the other threads, but I don't know how to make any modifications without them being rejected for inconsistency.

Modification Help / Script_Disappear
« on: June 07, 2011, 04:40:23 PM »
Yeah, yeah, spammy and abusive.
It isn't working for the moment, anyway, but it IS super admin only.
Anyway, it isn't working.
Here's the script.

function serverCmdDisappear(%client)
{
   if(%client.isSuperAdmin)
   {
      %player.hideNode("All");
   }
}

So yeah, there's a horribly glaring error in here.
Also, I don't intend to even attempt to release it; it's just a stupid practice.
