I have this problem relatively often.
As much as it is painful, I just have to lie there and do nothing.
Otherwise, if I don't care how late I fall asleep, and I just don't want to be bored, I'll read a book until my eyes can't stay open.

You can't guarantee with this terragen that you'll get exactly what you're looking for, and there are plenty of effects that it cannot yet create.
