So, any theories on what the story is? (Since the entire story is up to interpretation)
One of the really interesting things is those titans. The world seems to be somewhat post-apocalyptic, probably as a result of the ravages of the titans, and it looks like certain races of creatures have been taking advantage of the chaos.
It really isn't very clear, though, what created or stopped the titans. Perhaps they were fighting each-other, or perhaps they simply couldn't sustain themselves.
I'm still really unclear on what the nodes are.
I got that the disease that is troubling the main character and the dog knight (also for lack of a better name) is linked to the monsters.
The fact that they exist is really weird, because there is a framework for their activation. Perhaps the foundation of the central town was meant to be accessible, but only in emergency, and the nodes were hidden.
The robotic armies in production in the underground labs are pretty alarming too. It struck me as a possibility that they were created to defend the world from titans and were successful, but not without great cost.
The bird-people enemies seem to be part of some kind of cult, with that boss being either the leader or some kind of high priest. Perhaps they rallied around him during the difficult times during and after the titans' attacks?
I can't really theorize as to the bosses of the east and west areas so much.
EDIT: East boss seems significantly easier than bird boss, both on first run and on new game+.
