corsair CX power supplies are always hyped and praised and idk why, they're only average just like the rest

although i will personally vouch against raidmax, since i had a 1000w from them fry a motherboard
The older models sure, but the ones that came out last year are awesome for the price with decent warranties to boot. The only unit that competes in the segment is the EVGA B3, and that came out just a few months ago.

FYI that power supply is kinda junk, a CX450 is far better, otherwise it looks good.

Haven't tried the desktop version, but the Android version is a HUGE improvement over what it used to be like. I haven't done any benchmarks yet, but so far it feels on par with Chrome, plus unlike Chrome it actually has add-on support.

For a video editing rig that's pretty good, but for gaming it's pretty unbalanced. Also you REALLY want an SSD unless you're really strapped for cash.
Here's one I put together in maybe half an hour or so:

Did some quick searches, and found a couple of auctions:

And here's one you can buy for ~$240 without having to bid:

If you want a i7. Save up and get the latest i7 8700-8700k and get a z370 motherboard. You probably wouldn't upgrade in a couple of years anyways so the last chip of the platform wouldn't forget you up at all.
That'd set him back more than $500 when you count the CPU, 8 gigs of RAM and motherboard. That's far more than getting a used 4770 or 4790 costs. Even if you get the cheaper i5-8400 you're still going to be around $400, and that's not even taking the stock issues into consideration.

If she's doing digital art then she probably wants an IPS monitor with decent color reproduction and maybe a beefier CPU if she does 3D stuff. I'll put together a list for you when I get home from work.

fyi CPUs don't really age unless they're heavily overclocked, so you're pretty safe buying used. You can get pretty good deals on eBay or Craigslist.

Was only going to check it out for a bit, ended up building for 4 hours. 10/10 haven't had this much fun in BL since I was in high school.

Whatever you do, do NOT buy an FX series CPU, they're basically pointless since Ryzen is out.
I put together a build for you; I don't have time right now to explain it, but if you want a breakdown I can give it to you tomorrow.

you should change the refresh rate on your main monitor to 144 Hz tho, otherwise your 1080 is kinda pointless
