Crazy how time flies, I was just recalling the feeling of building my first PC in 2011 thinking it was some of the best hardware out at the time and now it's basically in the dust... I'm gonna be working a steady job during the school year and looking to make $100 a week. I'm going to be going to college the year after so I'm looking to upgrade/build a PC with some saved money around a budget of $1000 (not exceeding $1200, I want to buy other stuff too). What parts should I look to upgrade? Should I just try to sell my PC and build a completely new one when the time comes?http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Chipskate/saved/8DC2FT
CPU: Intel i5-2500K
GPU: XFX HD 6870
RAM: 8GB
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD4-B3
HDD: HITACHI 500GB
PSU: Corsair 550W (need to upgrade this for sure lol)
Case: Antec 3000
All of this is 2011 era so I forgot specifics, but basically my system by today's standards is stuff. What should I plan on upgrading?
I'd just buy an Alienware or something. Building computers is for loving pilgrims. "Why buy a house when you can just build one?? It's cheaper!!!". Stupid as forget imo.
SSD + RX470/480, SSD first and the video card when the non-reference models some out.
What would be the next logical step in terms of an upgrade? Price range around 200-300 dollars.
you save for about 500-600lol, that's not gonna do jack when he doesn't even have an SSD, and even then a $300 Skylake CPU/mobo/RAM combo will be maybe 5% faster than the Haswell i5 he has now.
then upgrade to skylake mobo/cpu/ram
Bolt modding can be risky, but will fix your board.Yeah, I've been thinking about that. The board's toast either way so I don't have much to lose.
