Yes, it's a children's show. The original audience was intended for children. That doesn't necessarily make it a bad show. See: Powerpuff Girls.
This is what you actually don't get.
Powerpuff Girls was made for all ages and made for male and female.
My Little Pony was made for five year old girls.
