It's nice to see the iPhone kiddies justifying buying an overpriced phone.
He means third party versions of Android, because Android is pretty much very open to modifying.
Well hey I could buy an iPhone 4S for $199 and get a totalitarian OS/owner whose updates cost money, or I could buy a refurb'd Galaxy S2 for $9.99 and get a free-based OS/owner with free updates and practically the same performance.
