of course i would. i'd knock on his door. "police, open up." in this case, he would open the door and respond to questions/comply with instructions. if there was actually anything out of the ordinary, i'd put my hand on my gun. if there were any indication of him being a threat, i'd take the gun out of the holster and tell him to put his hands on his head and face to the wall/ground and frisk and cuff him while the place can be searched. then more questions, etc. etc.why the forget would you go up to and knock on the door of a possibly barricaded suspect reported to have a gun?
screaming "IF YOU MOVE I WILL SHOOT YOU AND YOU WILL DIE" is not caution, it's wanting to flopping your power richard around.

HARARE (Reuters) - Zimbabwe’s military seized power on Wednesday saying it was holding President Robert Mugabe and his family safe while targeting “criminals” in the entourage of the man who has ruled the nation since independence 37 years ago.
Soldiers seized the state broadcaster and a general appeared on television to announce the takeover. Armored vehicles blocked roads to the main government offices, parliament and the courts in central Harare, while taxis ferried commuters to work nearby. The atmosphere in the capital remained calm.
In his first contact with the outside world since the takeover, Mugabe spoke by telephone to the president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, and told him he was confined to his home but fine, the South African presidency said in a statement.
HARARE, Zimbabwe — After ruling Zimbabwe for nearly four decades, leading the country from the triumph of its independence struggle to economic collapse, the world’s oldest head of state became a prisoner of the military he once commanded.
Robert Mugabe, 93, was detained along with his wife, according to a military announcement Wednesday. The move appears to end one of Africa’s most controversial political dynasties while raising questions about what might come next — military rule, a transitional government or a settlement that would allow Mugabe to return to power.
No matter what happens, this appears to be a watershed moment for Zimbabwe and southern Africa, which have suffered from the tumult of Mugabe’s reign, even as his hold on power sometimes seemed unshakable.
Zimbabweans awoke early Wednesday to a televised announcement from an army general promising that there was “not a military takeover,” although Mugabe had been detained and armored vehicles were rolling into Harare, the capital.
It was not clear where Mugabe, 93, and his wife were Wednesday but it seems they are in the custody of the military. "Their security is guaranteed," the army spokesman said.
"We wish to make it abundantly clear that this is not a military takeover," the army statement said. "We are only targeting criminals around (Mugabe) who are committing crimes that are causing social and economic suffering in the country in order to bring them to justice." The spokesman added "as soon as we have accomplished our mission, we expect that the situation will return to normalcy." The army spokesman called on churches to pray for the nation. He urged other security forces to "cooperate for the good of our country," warning that "any provocation will be met with an appropriate response."
