Off Topic / How do you find your area code?
« on: December 12, 2015, 05:17:00 PM »
Was wondering where people get those three numbers from and I was wondering if it's just to do with your home phone number or is it the first three digits of your zip code, or is it something else?

Off Topic / Half size cards?
« on: November 06, 2015, 09:55:45 PM »
Can anyone recommend me any half size graphic cards? I want to upgrade a bit on my pc so I can play Blockland again, but I don't have the money to build an entire rig, so I am stuck with some old office computer I've had for years.

Let's just say my budget would be around $60. Any help is appreciated.

p.s. I know there is more to computer than a g card, but it's not like I'm decking it out with dual titans...

Off Topic / Avatar size limit [solved]

solution

I am attempting to upload an avatar that is a 75x75. I attempted to save it to the lowest quality possible from a .psd project to .jpg, but the quality is terrible...and yet the file is too large to upload, and is actually 1 kb larger than the full quality .jpg version at 22 kb. I tried to upload the full quality .jpg to an image sharing website, and saving it again, to get a good picture that is compressed, yet doesn't make it look like a giant .jpg artifact. I got an image that was 21 kb down to 10 kb, but it's still not enough.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me the absolute maximum the image file size can be? That way I can at least know how much I can compress my avatar before I can stop.

Help / Blockland black screen
« on: September 27, 2015, 06:56:33 PM »
I recently started fresh on a new hard drive with a fresh install of Windows 7. My old hard drive is fully accessible from this new drive.

My problem now is, after I install Blockland with no problem whatsoever, it launches with a black screen. The launcher window is fully black, and then after the launcher is done, the actual game window launches, which is not in fullscreen, and it itself is fully black.

I thought this obviously was a graphics driver problem, so I went to the Intel website, and downloaded the latest drivers, which it told me I already had anyway. I installed and restarted as told to. This did not work. I used the Intel driver utility to detect missing/outdated drivers, and it did. It failed to install the driver it downloaded for me, so I manually searched the exact name on the Intel website and installed it fully, restart and all, without issue.

Now I am not sure what to do, as the problem persists. Blockland works fine whenever I start up Windows 7 on my other hard drive, although there is something wrong on my other drive with Windows, and that is that the resolution cannot be anything but stretched.

If anyone could help, I would very much appreciate it. I attached my console log file if needed.

Off Topic / Golden Pokemon card thing I found in my house
« on: August 19, 2015, 01:49:04 PM »
I don't think it's really gold, considering I see some metal showing through parts on the edges, so maybe it's just gold plated or a golden colored paint. Couldn't find much on these online, might have been searching the wrong stuff. It says (C) 1999 Nintendo, so I think it's pretty old lol.

Off Topic / video editing software?
« on: August 16, 2015, 08:25:07 PM »
I've been thinking about getting some video editing software on my computer. Sometimes I make stupid little stuff on my iPhone with iMovie for iOS, but I am severely limited by it. Even though I am comfortable with iMovie, I cannot download it for Windows and I am not going out of my way to do so.

Is there any software anyone can recommend? Price doesn't matter, as long as there is at least some kind of demo or something. Just want to be able to do simple stuff like overlay video with images.

Off Topic / Free forum creation?
« on: May 25, 2015, 08:56:30 PM »
Does anyone know any good places where I can create a free forum that won't have an annoying name? If it's something decently popular, it won't be a problem, but if it's like "www.forumname.forgetboyforumm aker.com" it really isn't very attractive.

Creativity / Vine Megathread [no kingbach allowed forget off]
« on: May 06, 2015, 02:27:12 PM »

Vine is a short-form video sharing service. It was founded in June 2012, and microblogging website Twitter acquired it in October 2012, just before its official launch. The service lets users record and edit up to six-second-long looping video clips and revine, or share others' posts with followers. Some Vines are revined automatically based on what is popular. The videos can then be published through Vine's social network and shared on other services such as Facebook and Twitter. Vine's app can also be used to browse through videos posted by other users, along with groups of videos by theme, and trending, or popular, videos.

Vine is a mobile device application available on Android and iOS where you can basically make annoying 7 second compilations of you screaming like a loving monkey short clips of anything, using media and third party editing software on your mobile device and/or the already available editing tools within the Vine application itself, up to 7 seconds long.  This is useful because this is the average human attention span of social media users.

Although primarily used for comedic purposes, there are many premade channels besides "Comedy" in which users can upload their clips into, similar to tagging relevant phrases as seen on other social media sites, in order to capture a wider audience.
