Help / Re: Can you show pictures taken from a .zip file? (print events)
« on: November 07, 2015, 08:47:30 PM »
I don't think so, the entire point of a .zip is to compress files, isn't it?

I don't think .zip was even supported by Windows for a long time, was it? I thought you needed a third party software like WinRAR to even open .zip for Windows Vista and lower, though I can't be sure.

In any case, maybe the problem is that the file path is only meant to work with regular folders.

a pci slot is for anything
but
the pci slot you have is so old that it cant support a graphics card
it would handle things like wifi cards, or a sound card
pci express is for graphics cards and other advanced addon cards

you know what, i actually had a wireless adapter in there a long time ago. that's the only reason that spot is open.

well, thanks a lot guys. this really helped and i learned a lot. i'll leave this open just in case or if anyone wants to discuss this further, but i understand what needs to happen.

an agp port is for graphics cards
the point is
you dont have one
you only have a regular pci slot
you need a pci express slot

So what is a pci slot for lol

dude how old is your computer? that graphics card is ancient

Not sure where you see a graphics card, the picture with the card doesn't have the card actually installed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerated_Graphics_Port

It was supposed to be the successor to the PCI port, but was doomed to destruction by PCI-Express. It was phased out around 2004-2008.

Basically what I'm saying is: that PC is a relic, dude. It's time for a replacement.

certainly learning a lot today, I know basics but I'm not as hardware savvy as anything else

seriously. you'd be much better off buying/building a whole new rig than trying to upgrade that dinosaur

used to be able to run blockland on this, but after i restored it a few months ago and with all these new graphics drivers it made me install, it can't even start up.

that motherboard can not handle a graphics card
it is only a regular pci slot
just buy another motherboard
see if you can find one that has the same socket as your current cpu and supports the same ram you currently have that has a pci express slot
if you you can you're a lucky bastard and you're gonna save a lot of money

I see what you're saying, I'd have to buy a new power supply too, though. I guess to do anything, I'll have to wait until I get money.

By the way, what exactly is the AGP port for then, if not a graphics card?

dude is that forgetin a forgetin AGP card

you have a regular pci slot, not one that can take a graphics card

lol what's an agp card

making me embarrassed man all i wanna do is run blockland

maybe this?

that looks like it would fit, if not, the guy allows returns on it. i need to upgrade my power supply if i want to get this, though.

requires 300, i only have 250.

cant really provide measurements, can provide pics of the slot vs another card I have that doesn't fit in it (I think bracket is half size but it doesn't fit anyway) mind the fan it hasn't been touched in a decade probably

GTX 750ti is the smallest video card I have encountered.
750ti's are a little bit more expensive than $60.

Yeah, that's a bit expensive for right now, don't wanna spend too much anyway since when I run into money for a rig, I'll have a job, so I can build a whole new one.

But does it include a half pci bracket is what he is asking I think? He needs a G card for a low profile rig, and he needs a half bracket GPU
You mean something like this?

I think some come with an option to change the bracket to a smaller one, but I'm not sure. I tried to install a Radeon HD2600 (family member found it while doing job to clean house that people left awhile ago) just to see if it would fit, because it's missing a few screws, and it seemed like the PCI slot was too small for the card, along with the bracket on the card being too large.

by half size do you mean this?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121799&cm_re=r7_240-_-14-121-799-_-Product

$70

That looks promising, I'll look into it. The only reason I am not searching so much on NewEgg is that there is no official low profile category, and that a lot of cards have different tags on them, like low profile and half size, and I might make a mistake.

Can anyone recommend me any half size graphic cards? I want to upgrade a bit on my pc so I can play Blockland again, but I don't have the money to build an entire rig, so I am stuck with some old office computer I've had for years.

Let's just say my budget would be around $60. Any help is appreciated.

p.s. I know there is more to computer than a g card, but it's not like I'm decking it out with dual titans...

Are you sure you are using the weapon package specified for those scripts? The old H&K add-on package, which has a lot of weapons, doesn't require those support add-ons.

same results as in no black screen if it's on your old drive but is a black screen on new drive?

It was with a black screen on new drive, I didn't think to try it on the old drive because regular Blockland works on that one, but I will try it later when I get a minute and report back here.

Yes, OpenGL shouldn't be the problem. I know I have a bad computer not fit for gaming at all, but Blockland has been able to work on every stuffty office desktop computer I have installed it on.

what if you try something like BL portable?

I will try this.

Seems like a graphics card problem.

Try installing drivers from the company's official website.

What I meant when I said I went to Intel's website was that I was installing drivers for the integrated graphics card on my motherboard.

do you know if you're using two graphics cards or one?
if you're in a laptop, there's a good chance you could have two and could try setting the other one to be used instead
(ie integrated intel vs NVidia)

Desktop, only one, and it's integrated Intel.

I don't often like asking this, but considering the circumstances, have you tried reinstalling Blockland?
Try it on both your new drive with the clean Windows 7 install as well as your old drive.

I have done both, nothing.

I mean the image you got from google images or whatever in the first place. before you cropped it or anything

I suppose if you are going to crop it yourself or something, pixel by pixel, I could do that myself. Otherwise, this is the image.

Edit: I did what Trogtor told me to do with the .psd file that was directly cropped from the original image, and the white trimmings are gone.
