Saying something is a quality thread is not dismissive, even if it was sarcasm it isn't saying that the whole thread isn't needed.

Next time tell him to compare FPS to FPS and RPG to RPG.
Such as CoD BO to CoD MW2 (FPS)
or Skyrim to Fallout 3 (RPG)

I really like coke and pizza.

Normally I never drink coke, most of the time I drink tea, but when I eat pizza I just HAVE to drink coke. They just taste great together.
