Off Topic / Re: Give me advice if you take these AP classes pls
« on: August 12, 2016, 11:17:29 AM »
Thanks for all the advice, sorry I didn't introduce myself. I've actually achieved all A's throughout middle school to high school, and I do rather well listening, reading, writing, etc... but I will probably drop AP human geography for Spanish or whatever, I'm still thinking about it.
Oh forget. I have to take the SAT/ACT too.
The SAT/ACT are more about cognitive ability rather than actual fact learning.  If you're relatively capable in terms of cognitive function and critical thinking, as well as used to standardized testing like it's nobody's business, you should be fine.  Take practice ones, if you're really concerned get some practice books as well.  Human Geog is pretty easy though so you may want to consider your options but of course do what your gut says.

Drop AP Human Geography. The class is easy, but it's chalk full of busywork and has virtually no use as college credit unless you want to be a geographer. You'll be stressed out in no time with it.
Not true, it can count as a gened in some cases.  I'm taking Intro to Human Geography right now and it's a gened credit.

What do y'all think of this $1000 build I threw together

inb4 tool because foam and lights, I like em

I went for the 1060 because as far as gaming goes I don't expect to do as much this upcoming year and it performs on par with my 770s at like a quarter of the power requirement.
I also went for a microATX build because space is limited in my room and tbh towers are not as flattering as I used to find them.
There's a 550w EVGA GS PSU but it's literally the same price so no reason to not get the 650w.

yeah but it's bronze rated so you know your actually getting at least 410w at all times, and there's little to no risk of it failing and potentially frying all of your other parts. the slightly higher price is worthwhile insurance
The color rating is a rating of the efficiency, how much wattage is generated with how much heat.  Peak efficiency for 80 Bronze is at 50% draw at 85% efficiency, with 20% and 100% draw being 82% efficiency (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/80_Plus).  The efficiency isn't a guarantee of how much wattage you'll be getting, how much wattage can be drawn depends on the parts on the inside itself (assuming you bought a quality PSU it should be no worry).

Literally the only ones that require effort are bio and calc.  Even then, it's not the end of the world if you don't get the AP credit for college (I'm assuming you're pursuing something STEM related).  English may or may not require effort depending on your teacher.  As far as psych, I took it and it was piss easy just pay attention and practice.  My friends told me US history and human geog was also piss easy.

I should also note you can consider maybe taking some of them next year instead.  Space out your hard APs with easy ones per year.

I live in alabama, hot and humid all the time, shorts are still gay
Maybe if you're wearing these incredibly closeted mid-thigh pastel pieces of stuff you're gay,

But I can't find any other reason that shorts would be considered gay.

Lol wtf is with some of you guys and the vendetta against shorts?  If you live in climates that aren't hotter and more humid than Satan's sweaty starfish then I can understand, but living in Maryland wearing anything longer than shorts on a hot spring/summer day is suicidal.

I can't imagine ever wearing anything but shorts in the summer unless the situation calls for otherwise.

Thats all? You aren't going to bring up a valid argument? You really are handicapped. Go kill yourself, you are a waste of the space you take up.

Forewarning, I've only read like the past page and a half, and the OP and a bit of page 1.  I'm going to assume the majority of pages 2-20 is unnecessary babble about who's right or wrong which is likely a safe assumption.

I read through the OP and it seems like most of you people are getting butthurt that someone of color is trying to bring perspective over the use of the word "monday" thrown around like candy on Halloween on the forums, even though probably like none of you would ever even dare whisper it near a black person.

I've probably said this before somewhere but it really is kinda important to at least consider the perspective Jitank has given the current social climate with BLM and all that.  BLM is growing enraged with the frequent and highly publicized murders of people of color, in some cases with no purpose or justification for said murder, and white people get defensive over black people getting angry and start the whole "all lives matter" thing (as if that does any good to the conversation).

At least Jitank is trying to educate on the situation.  Maybe it pops up in the wrong threads, sure, but it's not like he's force feeding social justice warrior rhetoric it seems.  Try not getting offended over someone getting offended over the use of a racial slur.

ok so i am giving myself $400 at most to upgrade my mobo/ram/cpu. thoughts on this list? i'm especially wondering how many years a 6600k/6500 + 1070 will be great for in gaming. i'm excited to upgrade but i sure do hate to spend the money lol-- glad i held off spending $200 fixing minor dents on my car

i5-6600k or i5-6500. not sure if the power difference is highly considerable, too lazy to research atm

asus Z170-A (this) and get this stick, or get the asus Z170-P D3 and keep my current 2x4 2400/11 ddr3 ram and tune it for skylake
probably meant reference card
Go for the 6600K only if you think you'll ever overclock.  Intel has a great new extreme tuning utility that lets you OC easily within Windows but even so only get it if you think you'd ever OC.

Don't go with DDR3 RAM for Skylake.  That just sounds weird.  Also DDR4 RAM goes at like 2000+ MHz by stock, you'll want that.  Find a mobo that does a high stock memory frequency.

damnit, i didn't even consider a cpu bottleneck. i was told my setup would run fine with a gpu upgrade

Yeah your AMD will NOT cut it... good lord who told you your CPU would be good??

i dont know why amd cpu do so poorly when paired with 900 and 1000 series cards.
if it was only about clocks, it should be fine, but ive seen people struggle with modern games using a fx8350 @4.7mhz + 970.

like i run a 6700k at 4.5. that is arguably lower then some power house amd clocks. maybe more games are using hyper-threading or something these days and it actually makes that big a difference.
I think it's the design of their chips.  They're just not well designed and focused on delivering a cheap processor with tons of cores cranked up to high clock rates, but this means jack stuff if the circuitry on the inside isn't great.

I've always gone with Intel in any PC build I put together for anyone for this alone, AMD processors just don't perform as well period and are meant for the very cheap.

They also knew that desperate people would literally donate their life's savings to Bernie.
Where does this sentiment come from?  I haven't heard of a single case of someone actually doing this, yet paid trolls (https://wikileaks.org/dnc-emails/emailid/8351) keep pushing this stuffty meme of a non-existent type of person who desperately shovels donations by life savings and loans.

edit:  didn't want to imply you were a paid troll, but I'm willing to bet there were tons around popular discussion spaces online spreading this kind of weird stuff.

I'm not going to quote all of your other posts in chronological order cause I'm on mobile

know otherwise you'd be forgeted
I'm assuming you want to quote this
Yes there is law, but socioeconomic an social factor of a society effect equality. No matter how I act, dress, people who view stereotypes as a norm are going to treat me unfairly.
Let's read closer
No matter how I act, dress, people who view stereotypes as a norm are going to treat me unfairly.
Did you catch it
people who view stereotypes as a norm are going to treat me unfairly

It doesn't take having a "world is against me" mindset.  It takes someone who has a negative mindset of other particular people.
I'm not vouching for the "world is against me" mindset, but I wanted to point that out.

How the hell did he destroy his credibility?  He was destroying his credibility the longer he waited to support her.  Hell, even all the schmucks in the GOP endorsed Annoying Orange save for Cruz, probably on account of insulting his wife and accusing his dad.

I can hope that he'll consider revoking his endorsement and going for a third party bid.  Up to this point I was barely considering voting for Hillary, only to prevent a conservative-packed supreme court down the road.  With all this stuff now I want to vote for literally anyone else but those two stuffheads.
