Modification Help / Re: Sticky bomb laucher.
« on: July 28, 2009, 12:35:36 PM »
I've got a basic Sticky Bomb Launcher working in my server. Currently it works like the TF2 one, doesn't stick to people or vehicles and lets you have eight bombs out at a time that are detonated with the jet key. It's got a couple issues I need to fix but it's mostly ready.

As a static shape, it should be possible to use hideNode to make the things inside disappear. One thing is that (in your screenshot) the lighting looks quite bad on the outside of the crate...

Code: [Select]
schedule(%time,0,%function,[%arg0, ... %argN])
%object.schedule(%time,%function,[%arg0, ... %argN]);
the 0 tells the engine that it's scheduling just normal function, not an object.function

Code: [Select]
messageAll('',"Message Here");
messageAll('MsgItemPickup',"Message Here",%slot,%item);
The first argument is the message type. Blank just means a normal chat message. Other special tagged strings can be used, MsgItemPickup updates your items HUD and optionally displays stuff in chat.

You need some effects for this. :cookieMonster:

While on this topic, what does ontoolbreak event do?  Tried expirementing, can't figure it out.
It's supposed to be when you hammer the brick. It doesn't really have any practical uses apart from annoying other people with trust, so it is being removed in v13.

If you want when the brick is destroyed by e.g. rockets, use onBlownUp.

Chrono never posted in that topic. It's also extremely old and an extremely generic idea. I doubt he got the idea specifically from your topic.

It also disables painting horses etc. with Recolor Vehicle off. Fail.

Drama / Re: "waah no spawnkiling"

This is why two alternating spawn rooms work well. :P
Let's take Valve's good design decisions and take credit for them?

General Discussion / Re: Guys where are the minigames?

Try sorting servers by Player count to see the populated ones. The more populated ones generally provide something to do.

TDM - Team Deathmatch. Teams compete to kill each other and score objectives.
CTF - Capture the Flag. A Team Deathmatch where teams try to steal an item from the enemy's base and bring it to their own for points or round wins.
TF2 - A recently popular game type based off Team Fortress 2. You'll generally be able to pick a 'class' of weapons to use (for instance, being able to wield a Flamethrower or a Minigun, but not both) and then fight.
Dogfight - A deathmatch based around using planes and flying vehicles to travel between distant areas. Aerial combat and bombing runs to be expected.
CityRPG - A game mode where people do things like earn money, build a city and interact with each other. Role playing.
Zombies - Players try to hold off AI or player-controlled zombies that attack in hordes and break down walls.
Fort Wars - Players try and build fortresses (typically being given the Wrench to add interesting mechanics and Wrench Events) to hold off others or work in teams.
Challenge - Players, working alone, complete various challenges based off jumping between platforms, using special items like the Hookshot or Portal Gun, or player types like the Agile Player that can climb walls to reach exits or objectives. Rewards follow on completion.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Item Dev Team?

Look at weapons such as the Gun, Rocket Launcher and Ephialtes' Shotgun for good examples of the style.

The file is empty. Run Blockland, cause the error and then post the file.

Blockland.us - Support -> Quick Launch Guide -> Host A Server

- Server configuration is controled from the fps/server/prefs.cs file
Should be "controlled" and "config/server/prefs.cs". It also doesn't explain standard Internet servers.

You need 3 more units of WOOD to build a WOMAN.
