The drawing on the card is a depiction of Tippy firing a machine gun into generic looking people, identified by an arrow as his "enemies."

Jaakko rests the card in his lap.

"Thanks, though I was injured by a Marine trying to shoot a Zent who was attacking me," he responds, "It didn't do anything serious, didn't even stay in."

He looks tired. He works himself upright in his bed and gives a weak wave.

Jaakko is helped off the aircraft by the loadmaster, unable to make good use of his right leg. He makes it to a wheelchair nearby and is taken to the infirmary, and is left in a bed in a drowsy state.

Jaakko looks uncomfortable and upon meeting eyes with one of them looks away quickly and rolls over. He makes a personal promise that he will return the hat and medals to their owner's survivors. He is left to reason that it is what's responsible for their anger.

Jaakko turns back, and looking genuinely sorry, attempts to communicate that he will return it to the captain's family. He tries mouthing the words, though he doubts they know Aesthian enough to read lips though.

Jaakko smiles a bit.

"This place doesn't feel like home. It feels like a hotel stay, or a camping trip. Just, alien," he grumbles.

Jaakko lays back down.

"Base is gonna skin me for loosing that Fenrir,"

He looks up at Virvel.

"Sorry that I feel exhausted. I'm going to try to go back to sleep, if you don't mind," he says quietly, "Thank you for coming to see me here."

Jaakko is silent for a few moments, enjoying the company of having someone familiar around.

"Not being able to walk sucks," Jaakko laments, "I suppose there's no use complaining, because I can walk in a few days. Or hobble," he says.

Jaakko looks down at his lap and wears a look of sincere disappointed.

"I thought it was actual news," he claims.

He stares for a few moments, then looks around for something to drink believing himself to have been left with a water sometime earlier. He can't stand, and is confined to twisting around on the cot.

Jaakko capitulates and sets the 'memorabilia' in his lap.

"I suppose I've gotten use to a lot," he laments.

He huffs and looks at the TV. [THE NEXT DAY] is emblazoned on the screen.

"I'm anchor Jok Mayov and leeeet's get roooooiiight inta da noose! Social panick spreads as-"

"Maybe it would be funny if you were as high as I am, and not shot," he croaks, smiling.

Jaakko is made uneasy by the act.

"No, keep it," he croaks, "I'm not one for— for memorabilia,"

He tries to hand the stuff back.

"I wouldn't say I nearly got axed, not in any glorious fashion that is. I was shot by our own while being brutalized by Izzy," he enunciates in a quiet voice.

He looks up at the ceiling.

"About sleep, it's fitful. I have to sleep but it's hard to sleep. I'll be half asleep or asleep, and someone will drop something or close a door, and I'll hear a gunshot, or that flashbang. It's macabre," he moans.

Gus arrives in the medbay shortly after, and is pointed in the correct direction by an over-stressed nurse.

He walks over to Jaakko as Virvel finishes her sentence.

I believe Jaakko is not at Valhalla, I'll correct it if I'm wrong.


"Annoying," he grumbles, "Even with pain meds, there is a dull pain. You wouldn't believe how tired getting shot makes you feel,"

He takes a breath and rights himself. There are bags under his eyes and an adhesive bandage on his chin.

"Doc said they're pushing me back into service as quick as they can," he croaks, "It's been what, a day maybe?"

He studies Virvel, who is entirely unscathed, and as he remembers, she's psychotic as well.

Jaakko looks around and tries to see if Imperials and the Aesthians are conversing together. He also noticed a TV, running coverage about the Dorites company collapsing.

"The recipe of Dorites are considered to be trade secrets by the company and the industry. The rights to the brand as well as the recipes are anticipated to be bought up by sister company Mound Ewe, with which a proposed merger was abandoned due to the Dorite's spoiled assets-"

Jaakko considers checking up on his squadron in Valhalla, but considering that he's at an undisclosed location, that there probably no lines to the outside world.
