I climb the aircraft up to a thousand or so feet above the carrier and keep vigil. The noise never leaves me, though.

Jaakko eases into position behind the drouge, and deploys the sheathed fuel probe. He misses the basket around the line twice, before finally making a connection. The hiss of fuel flow cannot be heard over the deafening engines of the carrier.

I check my fuel gauge. There's only about half an hour of fuel left, I had only started out with the tanks half full. Afterburning around didn't help. Colossal aircraft, colossal engines, colossal fuel consumption.

Jaakko is exuberant in the success of his maneuver. He gently brings the aircraft back onto the bearing of the carrier. He punches the throttle and observes the only cloud bank to be seen in the sky. He observes the torcreepes to see if there is a contrail.

Jaakko can be heard shrilling in delight at the fact that he can out run missiles. He noses the aircraft up slowly to avoid running into the ground, and begins a shallow climb. The missiles' engines will die, and they will bleed energy trying to stay with him.

Jaakko firewalls the throttle and dives hard. AAM's are slower the HSM's so maybe it's possible to outrun them.
