"Crazy– crazy– crazy- crazy bitch," I mutter as Tippy leaves my sight.

I figure that adding a third engine would cause there to be a need for a couple thousand pounds worth of questionably effective reinforcement to the airframe, which could cause a need for larger wings, which would need more reinforcement, which could need larger wings again, and tuning of the mechanisms the move the wings back through the process.

"I maintain that point of view. You can't really change the basic structure of the airframe. Not here at least, and not even at McNamara without immense resources that command won't give us. Sure, you could put in more powerful engines, and maybe even a third of you were absolutely loving crazy, but you can't change the structure of the airframe, and at that, you can't make up the difference thirty years makes in metallurgical processes.

I haven't looked at the Corsair's production details, granted they are more than likely classified, but I would guess that it's airframe is some type of titanium alloy. Most likely with steel or aluminum, and possibly other stuff to cut even more weight and add strength. This airframe, without a doubt, is an aluminum alloy.

Also, I don't know if anybody else would be willing to work with you, or, us, because- let's be honest. This is loving crazy, and I'm crazy for believing you when you say that we could do this,"

"Isn't it convenient that I have an Aerospace Engineering degree? I'd have to think about. Right now I'm thinking that there's a lot of stuff you can get away with in war. I remember reading a piece about how some Porlaqs took a stuffty LaGG-whatever aircraft and field-modded it, making it from the worst fighter aircraft ever built to one of the best. Granted, no amount of upgrading will bring this thing up to speed with the Corsair, but I think we could get close- if we have the right stuff,"

I eye the aircraft and shake my head. She's loving serious.

Hello.

Are you guys using Com's modified Boresław yet? the original was dank Maybe someday I'll be able to stick with it and stay around. Sorry Com.

I'm a bit shocked that she isn't actually joking.

"-I was going to say the Corsair seems to have a similar design. Perhaps it's even one derived from the F-14..."

I look around the aircraft, still in disbelief that she's actually loving serious.

"How do you plan on getting this thing home? Sure there's plenty of aircraft to cannibalize for parts, but it's not registered to our airforce- Perhaps command would be so surprised that they just blow it off and let you keep it,"

Better yet hold it up and shout I HAVE THE POWERRRR.

Bonus points for this.

I climb onto the aircraft and approach Tippy. I stand on the center-rear of the fuselage and hold my arms out to the sides, genturing to the aircraft.

"Here's your airframe, I mean, it's not NAUC's and if the rebels are using trucks with aircraft rocket pods on the back as artillery, who would give a forget if they got a jury rigged Tomcat?"

I look at the aircraft.

"What projects would you have back at base? loving with the TV's to be able to change it from Gladiator Crashers to Skeleton Man?"

I look to see who's making the statement about the F-14. It's Tippy.

"I'd say these things got worse as they aged. Maintenance times got exponentially longer for every hour of flight time put on the airframe. If I recall correctly though, that's why they were exported,"

I pause and inspect the roosterpit.

"Though, these things are so loving big, that if you found decent airframes, you could tear out all the old bulky avionics and replace them with newer digital stuff. There would also be no need for a RIO in the rear seat,"

Only if you want it to be i suppose. Otherwise she's just talking to herself and probably looking insane.

I was only asking for reference.

"F-14 is my bae. I flew one of those forgeters for a short time and i already miss it. Military has a hard-on for dumping money into new planes that only seem to get worse with age... but THIS aircraft, this aircraft keeps going. It's the closest you'll get to a tank that flys... not excluding the A-10 of course."

Are Tippy and Jaakko in the same hanger?

I observe the F14 behind the Corsair, and remark at the similarity in the designs. I observe it all around. The aircraft is not in the best of repair. Dozens of scab patches, simply repainted with the squadron's logo. I put a ladder against the side of the roosterpit and look in. Under the edge of the canopy there's some names in another language.

Inside the roosterpit there are ancient avionics. Smatterings of buttons, brown townog RWR screens, gauges, instruments. I can liken it to the roosterpit of the Mirage or the MiG-29's before we got the upgrade packages.

I look back at the Corsair. Glass roosterpit. Advanced avionics. Generations newer fly-by-wire, a loving plasma gun. Ultramodern gimmicks for a modern war.

The principle of taking the pilot's focus away from flying and managing the aircraft and rather having him use it as an instrument by which to have his way seems to have been the one true driving force in modern air warfare.

I'm somehow the last one to put down. Everybody else is already on the ground. I set the trim to compensate for the damage on the left side, then guide it in. The runway is cracked and looks like stuff. I pray that the engine isn't sucking in rocks and stuff from the deteriorating runway.
I pull into an aged and rust-stained hanger and turn off the engines.

The damage to the left wing root and fuselage is moderate. I sigh and inspect the burnt paint, charred and warped metal, and occasional bullet hole.
