1. Using the forums2. Using the gameQ. What is the "printer" and what does it do?A. The printer is a tool used in game to choose what print or decal is displayed on a print brick.
Print bricks can be found at the bottom of both the plates, bricks and slopes brick selection windows. You use the printer by aiming at and shooting the print brick by pressing the left mouse button. A window will open up and you can select a print from the list or by pressing one the keys on the keyboard. For instance, by pressing "a" on the keyboard while in the print selection menu, it will close the window and the brick will now display the letter "a".Q.What is the "wrench" and what does it do?A. The wrench is another tool, similar to the printer tool. Its function is to apply special effects like emitters or spawn weapons and vehicles.
Hitting any average brick with the wrench will open up the wrench menu. From here you can choose from a variety of emitters (like waterfalls, lasers, smoke, ect) and/or weapon and item spawns.
To activate an emitter on the brick, click on the pull down menu next to where it says "emitter". A long list will appear of options. Select an option and the drop down menu should close. Now you can chose a direction for the emitter to appear from (N for north, S for south, E for east or W for west, ect). By default the emitter will appear above the brick.
Spawning a weapon is just like creating an emitter, chose an item from the pull down list and select a direction you want it to appear. The weapon should appear next to your brick and you can pick it up by running over it.
The wrench can also be used with the special Vehicle Brick and Music Brick. By hitting the vehicle brick with the wrench you can select a vehicle and choose whether the vehicle's colour will or will not be be the same as the colour of the brick. The music brick is the same except you can choose to play a different song.Q. No one can join my servers/appears dead in the list, what is going on?A. Generally, if no one can join your server or it appears dead in the list, it means your router or modem is blocking the game from sending information to other players.
Fortunately, Badspot has provided us a helpful tutorial for getting your router or modem configured correctly so you can play with others on your own server.
Click here to go to Badspot's Portforwarding tutorial >>> http://blockland.us/portForward/Q. How do I install new add-ons and maps?A. Installation of new maps and add-ons can vary based on how a creator packages their mod, but the general rule is that you should extract the folder they provide and copy it on to your blockland folder.
If you are uncertain about where the files should be placed, check the folder names such as "base" "data" or "add-ons". They should match the already existing folders in your Blockland installation (typically in :c/ProgramFiles/Blockland).
If you have further questions, send a PM to the mods creator and they will likely be able to help you.Q. What is a minigame? How do I make a minigame?A. The Minigame system is designed so that when in any given server you can create a minigame (say a Deathmatch) and not disturb others who want to keep building. Minigames are highly customizable and feature a variety of options.<more on minigame system to be added later>
Q. What does "trust" mean?A. The trust system in Blockland is built in way of protecting everyone's builds from unwanted harm from other players. It is designed so that people whom you don't know or like can't build on or above your structures, change the colour of your bricks or basically effect your build in any way.
There are 3 levels of trust in Blockland.
No Trust: This is the basic level of trust. All users start at the this level in regards to other players. At this level, neither person can effect the others builds in any way.
Build Trust: At this level, other people who have Build Trust can build on top of your blocks but that is all they can do. (they can't paint or destroy for example).
Full Trust: This is the ultimate level of trust and should only be given to people you know well. Other users who have this can do anything that you can to your bricks including paint, build, change prints and even destroy. Be careful who you give this to.
In order to gain someone's trust, you must send them a trust invite. This can be done by pressing F2 on the keyboard (opening the player menu) and selecting a name from the list and hit the appropriate button such as "build trust" or "full trust". If they accept, you both will share the same abilities in regards to what you can do to each other's bricks.
You can remove someone's trust with you by hitting "demote trust" or by selecting the "build trust" button.Q. How do I use macros and what are they?
A. Macros are recorded instructions for building. You can record a macro and then later use it to create bricks without having to keep using the numb pad over and over again. It is especially useful when doing something really repetitive (like making a long wall).<insert macro making instructions here>
Ok guys, I know its not complete but what are your thoughts/ suggestions on this. Is it needed? What should be added/changed?
I'm open to submissions if someone wants to right a section for the FAQ.
