So, does anyone want to help if I do decide to put together a SW mod?

I could use a coder or 2. And some beta-testers (I forsee a great flood...)

So badspot, how much does Step 1: Games and GG take out of your profit? $5? $10? I mean, presumably you don't recieve all the money from each sale.

Isn't that good for Badspot if someone bought 1000 keys? I mean, if they did it fairly thats $20,000. I don't why anyone would go and buy all those keys and then sell them for a lower price. Makes no sense.

I suppose as long as they payed the full $20 for each key then theres no problem.

Badspot could still make more money if he did some ads over the internet.

Can anyone make any suggestions for easy/difficulty of play?

Well, there are no set goals or enemies in this game. Its more about building structures of whatever you can imagine. In terms of difficulty...well, as long as your son knows how to use the keyboard and the numpad on it then he should be fine.

I suggest trying the demo first at http://www.blockland.us/index.asp?p=Download

On the download page just download version 1.3 for windows. Its a demo and you only have to pay if you want to unlock the full game. Limitations of the demo are: Can't play online and a limit of 150 bricks.

Hope that helps.  :)

EDIT: Forgot to mention. There is a LAN feature so if you do decide to purchase a copy of the game you could play together with your son (providing you have 2 computers).

Also check out the FAQS at http://www.blockland.us/index.asp?p=Support

In answer to Chexguy's question.

Maybe.  I have many ideas, lots of time and the resources.

But I will still need help. I can model and map. Probably need some scripters and such.

We'll see.

He should contact the TV show "screensavers" or whomever it is now on G4 and inform them about new BL.

Then his sales would really increase. Its basically free advertising. He could even appear on the show 0.o ?

Perhaps some site adverts on gaming sites, just a banner here and there.

Profit = increase

Well, I have never had a problem with emitter lag, but you may have a point when it comes to large builds or many people (lol, as if that will ever happen).

As for the blade lagging behind the player, you answered it yourself.

have it shoot the particle really fast and rapid and have the particle dissappear almsot the instant

Can anyone make this please? Even if its just as an experiment.

Before you mention, Yes, I know there is already a lightsaber weapon available at this thread. http://www.blockland.us/smf/index.php?topic=15411.0

My suggestion is this.

Instead of making the blade as part of the model (as is the one mentioned above), why not just model the handle and have the 'light' bit be made of a single emitter? Similiar to the emitter of the laser it could come in different colors (red, blue, green) and I suppose you could model different handles.

Another bonus of my idea is that perhaps you could add in an on/off feature so the emitter could be disabled with a key press further adding to the realism.

Thats my idea. Any comments? Additions? Reasons why this wouldn't work?

Help / Re: ►►►Making Blockland Movies
« on: July 02, 2007, 10:34:00 PM »
I have to chorttle at the fact that Aviv considers himself a "famous" director. "Infamous" is a better title.

Not only are his movies of poor quality but he has a habit of stealing ideas from others.

I'm sorry to everyone else, but my movie "Pirates of Blockland" will own all other movies made in BL or RTB. Its made in RTB of course but its still gonna be great.

Anyway...thats the end of my rant.

EDIT: Forgot to mention...great tutorial, very useful, especially part about toggling the HUD off. Thanks :)

My first build in Retail Blockland was this...

Incase you can't tell, its a model of the Spaceshuttle on the crawler which takes it to the launchpad. Its about 2700 bricks. Built it on my first day of owning BL.
