Blockland, Roblox and Minecraft are the three biggest 3D block building MMOs. Inbetween them there have been thousands of disputes, about one being better then the other. The truth is, both have pros and contras.
Blockland
Pros: Simple building with built-in function, eventing that even a baby could understand, emmiters and lights great for decorating and such, vehicles and items good in a very varied addon range, relatively good community, customizable color packs and such building and eventing related customization, the Return To Blockland addon network, user-friendly key binding function, a trust system to prevent what Minecraft and Blockland users call "griefing" and Roblox users, "deleting" and other terms, easy to understand interface and menu, simple terms physics simulation, advanced forum edit, quote, HTML and such commands, tools can be aquired through easy to make and even easier to use item givers.
Contras: Pay-to-Play, relatively low customization of avatars, relatively lower detail in building, relatively less posibilities in events, building allignment to the grid strictly necesarry, bricks cannot overlap or be placed in midair without a support brick, bricks always stay solid and in place and cannot be moved unless decided by a limited range of events in this domain, community consisting mostly of
Roblox
Pros: Simple basic building, advanced physics simulation, alot of posibilities achievable by building and scripting, high customization of avatars, is free to play, vehicles and weapons may be maded with the help of building and scripting, very large range of possible things that can be done, large range of website posibilities, very high range of avaible details in matters of building, age-filtering system that does not let users under 13 years old hear or write normal chat, only being able to communicate with other users of the kind through predetermined chat lines, guest system often hated by most users, but usefull to those who would like to anonymously check out the game before making an account, group system usefull for linking people toegether.
Contras: No 3D model ("mesh") or sound uploading, was removed aproximately half a year ago, low number of effects that Blockland users know as "emmiters" (only 3 of them: Fire, Smoke and Sparkles), old forum, with no edit, quote or HTML command features, hard to use scripting system, relatively dificult to master advanced building, not-that-bad community, could be better, the fact that it's free makes it vulnerable to idiots, all tools must be put in the "starterpack" (the avaible tools pack) or in heavily-scripted "givers" before the start of the game, the lack of an application, the game being accessible through an internet shortcut that sends the user to a custom built Internet Explorer based browser, from which servers can be opened.
Minecraft
Pros: Basic simulation of weather, very advanced default built-in survival mode with randomly generated infinite worlds, can be altered through mods and/or cheats to become other game modes (freebuild, PvP etc), red and cyan glasses 3D system toogle, simple to understand game, advanced forum with edit, quote and HTML commands.
Contras: Infernally basic grid allignment system, can be seen so easily it's awful, bad default graphics but can be slightly improved with texture packs, overexagerated blocko feel, low functionality, avatar customization, building options, NO script/event system, little multi-player support with no integrated server list, connecting being done by IP.
The makers of this article hope that it will help stop the conflicts between the three games, as both are almost equally good, and every user can have his own opinion, without flaming others' .
