When I first watched the first episode, I didn't get past "In the magical land of Equestria". I laughed and turned off YouTube.

I was never sure what the hype was about, whether if it was for trolling the forums or if whoever made the first topic was actually serious. It took a while for me to actually try it again, the first megathread died off but the various hate threads and such were a constant reminder that it existed and some users were genuine fans.

The second time I watched it (which was quite some time later, like a few weeks or a month after noticing one of those mentioned threads), I made sure to watch the entire thing to give it a real chance. At that point, it felt like an everyday cartoon show. The cartoon style was nice, it was cute, and had a couple funny bits.

I made a post to sum up my thoughts about the separate ponies, but I wasn't very enthusiastic about the show. I also noted in that post that since it was a two-episode story that I should watch the second episode as well. I watched it a few hours later, again I thought it to cute, funny and nice. I gave it my try, watched the full two-episode story and was done.

It didn't take me till the next day to want to watch the next episode. The second episode was the better half of the two, and it hooked me many hours after finishing it. I slowly watched the rest of the episodes over a months span, now I eagerly await season two.

and not of peer pressure (well some of you anyways.)

personally, I can't see why anyone would watch this out of peer pressure.
it certainly doesn't appear to be incredibly popular around this forum, obviously excluding the fans in these topics.

It's not me trying to have diversity amongst you guys, I'm just asking another question now.
Why do you like the show?

Art-style, for one. A very cartoony take on an animal, one that looks much better than previous generations of this particular franchise. I've enjoyed such cartoony things since I was little. They've also done the style in such a cute and adorable fashion. The "plot" of friendship makes it feel just like that, friendly. Something heartwarming and enjoyable. To me, I find the small bits of humorous jokes and gags to be satisfying. I enjoy a good laugh, and this show has given me that from time to time.

The humor topped with the art-style and plot make for a cute, funny little animation about the friendship between several ponies.
Not everyone enjoys that type of show, I happen to be one who gobbles that sort of thing up.

Some of the more "involved" fans could trim down their hype, but that is not related to the show. Just its consumers.

Sorry, but I can.
I just think you're sheep and you'll follow whatever Shepard that another is following to be considered cool.

Sheep can be sheep.
I'm no leader, but I will watch a decent show if I find it to be so.

I can watch the show and not be addicted to it like heroin.
You all just have problems that make you addicted easily.

This guy knows things.
