I still have the Wall-E player-type if anyone's interested in it.
I've also made a modified version of it myself where you can't strafe unless moving forward or back, forward speed is reduced from 12 to 9, and you jump less than half has high.

Go out exploring for igneous stone by picking up stones. Once you find it, make a note of where it is and move your base there.

Boy, that will be tedious to move my chests to somewhere else, but OK.

I'm having trouble finding a stone to smith. So yeah, I now know I need an igneous stone. Would I have to travel far to get it? If not, how else could I find it?

Post in the TFC topic and I'll help you in-depth there.  But a short explanation, you need to find igneous rock first, a good example is granite.

Can't figure out how to smith on a stone in TFC. According to the wiki, it was "a stone", so I though it implied any type, but no, maybe not. What do I have to do, then?

I love this mod. Most of us would agree that Vanilla was the easiest thing ever.  I like how you cannot simply punch a tree and you can do knapping with rocks. It's very realistic. 10/10

then again, you could argue that right-click is only for placing blocks.

I dunno, some ideas I thought of.  This can let you place furnaces against each other with right-click, or E if you wanna open it.
