Absolutely! One of my all-time favorite gamemodes. I would love to see it become a publicly released gamemode if you're willing to go that far.

people gave tezuni's prison escape a lotta stuff but it was popular because it was fun
I used to give it a lot of stuff 'cause it felt unpolished. In it's absence I've realized that gameplay is far more important and I've really started missing it.

People look at this server and compare it to prison escape but they're two different modes
This, basically. With the absence of classic prison escape servers, people are judging jailbreak as a supplement.

I'm glad Apak has been hosting his revival of Tezuni's Prison Escape recently. Forgot how much I missed that map, as clunky as it can be.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Kill log addon?
« on: March 24, 2019, 05:10:19 PM »
ok but now my question is who the hell would ever need this?

On an RP or prison break, it could be used to determine if an illegal kill occurred. This would be particularly helpful if an admin wasn't online at the time of the kill to confirm it happened.

In defense of jailbreak, it does bring in players. Maybe I'll never enjoy Crown's jailbreak, but it doesn't have to be for me. Anything that facilitates and grows Blockland's player base is a net good in my opinion.

When Crown first hosted the Simon-says style jailbreak, I absolutely loved it. But as the gamemode evolved, I found it increasingly tedious.

The appeal of prison break / jail break gamemodes for me has always been the balance of the power dynamic. Guards have to maintain control while prisoners try to take it. If you skew this balance toward one side or the other, the game is no longer fun in my opinion. If it's too easy to maintain or gain control, then it's boring. If it's too hard to gain power, then there's a larger reward when you do prevail but at the cost of an hour or more of frustrating or boring gameplay waiting for an opportunity.

Crown's server was initially fun because it was essentially balanced, only slightly skewed in favor of the guards. Most players treated it as a classic prison break, so they were more keen to rebel. But eventually the game mechanics caused players to being more complacent, giving almost all the power to the guards. This was compounded by the introduction of larger, more open maps where it was virtually impossible to slip past the guards.

As someone who doesn't have hours to spend playing videogames like I used to as a kid, I don't have a lot of patience when it comes to playing videogames. I want immediate reward to help me relax after a busy day. I don't want to wait an hour or two to get a dopamine hit that may never even come.

If I could propose one fix, it would be to make maps less open, or just generally easier to slip away in. Maps with big open fields where guards can see players for hundreds of blocks without any effort make it nigh impossible to escape. There should always be a realistic chance for prisoners to escape regardless of how the warden engineers their minigames.

Any plans to make this a singleplayer gamemode in the future?

I used to think that if you saved a build with addons in it, you would just get the addons when loading it on your server
I used to think simply joining a server with add-ons installed them for you. Being the dumb stuff I was, I also accidentally hide the add-ons folder and couldn't figure out how to install add-ons for 2 years.

And played a lot of Family RPs because I was that loving stupid.

General Discussion / Re: How to get results from "Search"
« on: November 17, 2018, 08:10:19 PM »
I always prefer to use an external search engine. Using Google, DuckDuckGo, or any other search engine that allow parameterization, type your search query like this:

Code: [Select]
site:forum.blockland.us your search query

Is you're not familiar with the "site" parameter, it simply limits your search to a particular domain. If you want to search within a specific board, such as Modification Help, include it in your search like this:

Code: [Select]
site:forum.blockland.us "Modification Help" your search query

The quotation marks tells the search engine that any search result must contain that phrase. It's not guaranteed to limit your search to a single board, but it helps. Finally, if you want to search within a specific year, such as 2007-2010, you can do:

Code: [Select]
site:forum.blockland.us "Modification Help" 2008..2018 your search query

The ".." specifies a range of numbers to search for. Do note that given how many Blockland threads there are relative to the meager traffic the site actually gets, search engines don't index most of the Blockland Forums, so these techniques only work some of the time. If you really want to get fancy with your search parameters, this is a good guide.

Just didnt' work but this was like 3 or somethng years ago.
Might as well backup your Blockland folder and give it another go and see what happens this time. Support_Preferences has seen a lot of changes since then.

Last time I used glass I had to uninstal it because it was loving over my prefs
As in it didn't transfer your preferences, you couldn't set certain preferences, or something else?

Because I still have stuffloads of add-ons that use RTB prefs so I can't exactly switch over.
I've personally never had any issue with RTB-based add-ons working with BLG, as it tries to support RTB prefs. Have you attempted a transition and ran into issues?

Thank you! When I started using Glass Preferences, I couldn't find anyone who was using them since RTB preferences were backwards compatible. Hopefully this helps with adoption.

Also, does colorset work now? I recall it not working a few months back.
