Off Topic / Re: Domino's to be first Fast Food Chain on the Moon!

Is this some sort of a joke? Who the hell is going to shell out $100 mil+ for a launch, wait 2 days aboard a cramped spacecraft, and risk their health by crossing through a goddamn wall of radiation just to visit a Domino's on the moon?

I think it's awesome that companies are serious about expanding into space, but does a pizza joint nobody's going to visit have to be first?

Games / Re: How did you last die?

Not sure if this counts as a death or not, but I walked over some stickybombs in TF2 and heard them detonate (beep-beep) but before I died from the explosion I was votekicked from the server for micspamming.

Help / Re: Playing Blockland through a Pyoxy Serv.

Then why would you need a proxy? I mean, only if you didn't want the school to know what your doing of course. But yea you can.

Have you not read the thread? His school uses a proxy server that filters out "bad" webpages/requests. He wants to know how to play Blockland through his school's proxy.

You don't need to buy a new computer.
People do, but it's not required.
And those that do, make a lot more money. a lot more

For one, it gives the wrong impression about Bitcoin. They're also handicapped for doing it. You pay $200+ for an extra $3 per hour, which you can hardly use anywhere yet. Doesn't seem right to me.

MUST... BACK UP... STEAM! damnit. Its like 50 gigabytes and my flashdrive only holds 4 :C

Got another computer you can move it to?

Also FYI running activesmart doesn't hurt anything, it simply tells you if your hard drive is healthy or about to die.

You can always redownload steam, worry about that not.

What if he has a bandwidth cap/a stuff download speed?

Download the trial of activesmart and run diagnostics.

Off Topic / Re: Reinstalling Windows XP. Help?
« on: September 06, 2011, 07:28:38 PM »
OP's problem reminded me of this handicap. Just felt like sharing. Bring an oxygen mask.

This is why you don't install Ubuntu on a XP.

You have no idea what you're talking about, do you? It doesn't matter what OS you install another OS over, if you don't pay attention to what you're doing there's a good chance you may wreck everything.

I see both of the above on a regular basis.

2. It does not cost 600$ to make 5$ worth of coins, or anywhere close. It never has, and probably won't for some time.
General cost of a decent computer = $500-600
1 bitcoin = ~$7 USD
50 megahashes per second = Just over $6 in a month

Not to mention the people you see building new computers just to make under $10 a month. You're spending more to make a lot less, it would seem.

A decentralized P2P currency is actually a pretty awesome idea, but using your computer's hardware to get them? It's completely handicapped. It's like paying $600 for $5. And it's even discriminative in some cases. For instance, Person A has a great computer and can make lots of bitcoins, but Person B who hardly uses the computer and is using rather old hardware makes crap compared to person A. I can see bitcoins going a long way if it was less of a pain in the ass to use.

Help / Re: Is port Forwarding Dangerous?
« on: September 04, 2011, 09:09:04 PM »
Actually, some ports would be dangerous to forward, like the NetBIOS and SAMBA ones.
Only if you're running those, and you're handicapped enough to not secure your samba install.

If port forwarding was dangerous, the Internet wouldn't exist. Like Devvy said, you need to open port 80 for webservers, and additional ones for other web services.

It's 100% safe.
