Annoying Orange could come out tomorrow and say "Richard Spencer is a national socialist, forget him, forget national socialists, punch them all" and people who criticized him for being a national socialist/fascist/we would still turn around and have some kind of complaint about the statementSo do you think what he has said has been adequate so far? Cause I really don't. At all. You and I both know a backlash of this degree could have been prevented. We have bipartisan condemnation of what hes said now by congressmen, high ranking servicemen, and CEOs that were working with him. 6 have left his council so far. I know the media despises Annoying Orange, but come on, he really brings it upon himself many of the times that they call him out.
They definitely break more stuff per-capita, but they aren't nearly as forgeted up in an ideological sense. They're a reactionary movement. You don't see right-wing extremists fighting as much because they're basically getting what they want from the government right now. But supporting either side is bad. It's not really worthwhile to try and juggle which one is 'worse' because then you're either propping up literal national socialists or idiotic serial vandals. They both suck.Yeah definitely true. I feel like you have too much free time to actually go and try to assault national socialists or vandalize a public building because of who's speaking there.
i think he's trying to point out that it's silly to take down a statue of a guy because he owned slaves when we idolize another guy who did the same thingI see that point but it just doesn't help him at all to make it. There's already enough backlash as it is. I'd really love for Annoying Orange to be a good president that proves everyone wrong but all he seems to do is get people riled up. For literally no reason sometimes too.
But it wasn't? Just an honest question as to why you care. There are literally better things to do than debate over a statue. I'm just being real here. This would be more relevant if people didn't literally die today over this. You're right though, I have no life now that I'm out of college lol
the problem is just that the statue represents the confederacy and exists to praise their efforts. we can remember the bad parts of our history without glorifying them and, in practice, that's what statues like these do. there are no national socialist statues in berlin, but there is a holocaust memorialThey we're going to move the statue to a museum I believe. It's not like they were going to smash it in.
Wow way to take that to an extreme. Slow the forget down and listen. People are condemning what is, ultimately, a piece of artwork. This artwork depicts a man named Robert E. Lee. Yes he led confederate troops against the north, supporting their views. A defeated man, he concedes to his opponent and then educates himself. I value someone who has experience and learns from their mistakes, they ultimately have much wider viewpoints than most. I condemn what he stood for when he fought against the North, but he died as a person who wanted to help spread equality in America. Why should you continue to hate a person who changed their viewpoint to what you actually agree with?
Lee forthrightly opposed allowing blacks to vote: "My own opinion is that, at this time, they [black Southerners] cannot vote intelligently, and that giving them the [vote] would lead to a great deal of demagogism, and lead to embarrassments in various ways."[124] Lee also recommended the deportation of African Americans from Virginia and even mentioned that Virginians would give aid in the deportation. "I think it would be better for Virginia if she could get rid of them [African Americans]. ... I think that everyone there would be willing to aid it."I definitely agree with that!
i personally think that any statue of someone who owned human beings intentionally should be torn down. Not to mention he was the general of a traitorous army lol. The guy was never arrested or killed either.
why are you putting "owning people" in quotations? you know he re-enslaved a group of slaves who were supposed to be free by their contract but instead decided to renew the contract and continue owning them. and later when the slaves complained that they were supposed to be free, he turned them into the police and had like 10 of them shipped somewhere else
he literally owned people. he was a slave owner. there's no justification for it at all. if he singlehandedly donated a billion dollars to all the poor people in the world he'd still be a stupid stuffhead for owning slaves. what's 'weak' is that you're attempting to justify all this bullstuff simply because there are other (non-existant) liberal fan favorites that are somehow worse than him.
Post-war, Robert E. Lee actually began to support greater rights and equality. He urged his town and the south to follow law and denounced violent attacks against black people. What a great man, I might erect a statue tomorrow in my yard.
Why do you guys feel the need to undermine yourselves with little quips like thisJust responding to the idiots saying he was just that early on. They undermined themselves by posting fake news.
