Games / Crayon Physics Deluxe
« on: January 10, 2009, 04:14:52 PM »
Okay, so CPD was released two or three days ago.  For those who haven't played the prototype, it's an interesting sandbox game (although ARE objectives).  The game is played pretty much entirely with a mouse.  Draw a line, it becomes a solid line.  Draw a box, it becomes a box.  Everything you draw has physical properties.  If you get further in the game, you can draw hinges and ropes.  Rockets are also introduced.  There's also an awesome level editor (which also allows uploading your levels).  It's pretty fun.

I bought it today, and although short (In 2-3 hours I finished like 2/3 of it), it's really fun.  The level editor will give it near-infinite replay value, though.

Full game is $20, a demo with two of the islands is available.

Games / World of Goo
« on: October 15, 2008, 04:35:46 PM »
World of Goo is a rather new game for PC and WiiWare ($20 on PC, 1,500 Wii Points on WiiWare), and will soon be on Steam.  It's been out for almost a week now, but I haven't read a single bad review yet.  IGN gave the WiiWare version a 9.7, and RPS recommended it very much, and WiiWare World gave it a 10/10.  I had preordered it, and as such, beat the game the day it came out.  I very much enjoyed it, and the 'story' (if you can call it that) and levels were very well done.  They could have just said "no, that would be too much work" on many levels, but they decided to do them anyways.  In my opinion, it's definitely worth checking out.  A demo was released today, and contains one chapter of the whole game (in the full game, there are 5 in all, with 5 being 3 levels long, the others much longer).

tl;dr, everyone likes it and you should try the demo.

Modification Help / .setIFLFrame
« on: October 04, 2008, 04:35:15 PM »
I'm using a GuiObjectView to change decals and faces on a player, which is working good...but the problem is that I need to set them by name (which is what normal players use).  Is there any way to do this?

Modification Help / registerOutputEvent, string
« on: August 11, 2008, 02:58:43 PM »
Right, so I'm trying to use something like:

Code: [Select]
registerOutputEvent("fxDTSbrick", "Blabla", "string",5,7);

Or something along those lines, but whenever I exec it I get:

Code: [Select]
WARNING: string maxLength < 1 on class:fxDTSbrick, event:Blabla
WARNING: string width < 18 on class:fxDTSbrick, event:Blabla

And I've tried all sorts of values instead of the 5 and 7. When I open the events thing, my event is in there, but the output text box won't let me type anything in it (it's waay too small).  I'd like it to allow a fairly large amount of characters to be entered into it, there doesn't really need to be a max.  How should I do this?

Games / Jets'n'Guns Gold on GGAOTD
« on: June 21, 2008, 09:23:14 AM »
Jets'n'Guns Gold is on Give away of the day! It's a great 2D Space Shooter, best I've ever played.  Awesome upgrades, and the sheer amount of polish is astounding.  The graphics are really great, and there are nice little touches in the game - such as a Remote Control thingy that lets you hack auto-turrets, a little computer thing that lets you hax cargo containers you get, etc (which is really fun actually).  Also has some gore for when you shoot down the little astronauts that abandon that one cargo ship you just shot down.  I've only played for an hour, and I'm just about to start level 3 (of 43).

In my opinion, it's kinda difficult, but if you like 2D Scrollers, play it (I mean come on, it's being offered for free when it's originally $40 with the upgrade to Gold).  No spyware or any of those nasty things as far as I've seen.

GGAOTD Link. Site link.

Edit: Played for a while longer, at like level 6.  Awesome upgrades, I found the Tomato Gun secret weapon, when my ship dies I now shoot out in jetpack form, and soon will be able to bounty hunt.  Such fun.

Games / Ninja Gaiden II
« on: June 07, 2008, 04:54:21 PM »
Ninja Gaiden II has been out for a few days, and the demo recently came to USA and Canada (downloadable over XBL).  Much better than Ninja Gaiden Black (can't compare it w/ the original, since I don't have it).  Very gory though (cut off an enemies limbs, sometimes they'll throw them back at you depending on the enemy).  Recommend the demo to anyone who enjoys ninjas and isn't put off by extreme violence.  Videos really don't do the game justice, try it for yourself.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I think it's an Xbox 360 exclusive.

I need to check if you are damaged in the front of you (through Projectile::damage of course).  Quickest and most accurate way of doing this?

Modification Help / Game freezing on quit
« on: May 20, 2008, 07:47:45 PM »
Right, so I'm working on fixing a little something.  When you close the game, it freezes (stuck in a loop I assume) and says something along the lines of "Unable to find 'missioncleanup' attempting to call function getObject" as well as "Unable to find object: '6134' attempting to call function 'getType'"  I have noticed this only happens when I add/remove a certain Static Shape.  I've tried adding MissionCleanup.add(%staticshapehere); but to no avail.  Any help?

Games / Bionic Commando: Rearmed
« on: May 11, 2008, 09:17:40 AM »
Some of you might remember the old NES game, Bionic Commando, in which you played as some guy with a Bionic Arm, trying to kill some bad guy and rescue your friend.  Well, they're doing a remake of it, for Xbox LIVE Arcade and whatever PS3 download thing is called.  It is supposed to be released this month, and I'm predicting it will be this Wednesday.  It'll have new weapons, multiplayer gamemode, same-console Co-op, ragdolls, new bosses, new bionic arm powers, and enhanced 3D-ish graphics. :cookieMonster:

I think it's set at 800 points on XBLA.

Games / PMog
« on: March 30, 2008, 01:52:52 PM »
PMog is a passive Multiplayer Online Game, which currently only works in Firefox and is invite-only. You install the add-on, and a little tool bar appears at the bottom of the page - every time you visit a page, you get 2+ data points, which are the currency. You can then spend those data points on tools such as:
Mines, to steal points from other players.
Armor, to protect from mines.
Portals, to lead people to other pages (if they want, it's not against their will).
Crates, to leave things for other players to find.
Lamp Posts, to create a mission.

Missions are created by leading players through a series of web pages, leaving a little text to explain what you are shown. You can also level up by doing missions and gaining DP (Data points). Very unique in my opinion.

Note that the beta is currently invite-only. I suggest using this to get invited. I'll invite people as soon as I figure out how.

Modification Help / Blockomon
« on: March 22, 2008, 03:40:39 PM »
I present to you Blockomon. It's kinda like Pokemon...but less fail and more blocky. It's simply a modification to add some Pokemon-like creatures and allow you to battle them. We've had quite a few players so far. Basically, it contains these core things:
1. Catching wild Blockomon
2. Saving your captured Blockomon and their stats
3. Battling your captured Blockomon against another person's
4. Battling your captured Blockomon against Wild Blockomon.
5. Level up your captured Blockomon
6. Stats which actually affect how strong your Blockomon is in battle

And a few have special abilities, ex. Flying types can Fly. Battling works like a regular DM ingame. So far we've got a custom map (by RkyNick, a few other people are working on a totally new one) and an Arena interior, modeled by Kaje.

I'll edit this post from time to time to keep people who are interested informed of updates. Boshi has been hosting for me, so thanks for him, and stop bugging him to open the server please. This won't be going to the public any time soon (most likely never), because it would quite possibly lead to 6 servers named "pOkeManZ r kool!111".

Legendaries were recently implemented.  There is only one in at the moment, and it has a special weapon that no other Blockomon have.  To obtain it, you must finish a huge challenge which has no checkpoints, and is likely some will spend large amounts of time on it.  As for finding the challenge, that part is a secret... :cookieMonster:

Kaphix has begun to host as well, and I've started working on a clientside GUI to hopefully avoid using the wrong slash commands.  The help portion is finished.

Modification Help / Applying decals to an AIPlayer
« on: February 26, 2008, 07:00:55 PM »
Right, so I have a simple little AIPlayer, and I want to change his face decal and chest decal. I have the values to set it to, but what is the command (I expect you unhide a certain node) to actually make it change/show up (I need chest AND face)?

Modification Help / Checking for space
« on: February 25, 2008, 05:54:55 PM »
Hello, I'm working on a little something and need to check that there is room for a player at a given spot. I have a position, and I need to make sure that a normally-scaled player will fit in it, without getting stuck in a wall/other object. This is to make sure that the player isn't spawned inside a wall.
